Check out www.confused.com for yearly travel insurance....
make sure you are covered for the full period that you will be away 120+ , as quite a few of the annual ones tend to be for only 30,60 etc.....

I use www.insureandgo.co.uk

I have never made a claim, but the cover seems good and it is not too expensive!

All the best,

John

I haven't used it but plan to for our next trip. Came highly recommended here on IM. Anyone have anything to warn about this online company. It's seems so reasonable.

I just took out a policy with insureandgo - the cover seems good and the cost very reasonable. Don't know what they'll be like though if it comes to paying out!

Can you buy Travel Insurance in India for 12 months or do you have to buy in the UK. I was thinking of paying for one weeks travel insurance from the UK and then getting insured for 12 months in India...Any thoughts?

Tried directtravelinsurance .They seemed to cost a bit more then average (not a lot) but seemed to offer better cover .e-mail straight back and policy next day , Prompt response ,( good). The problem is not a lot of people actually claim so how do you no how well these companies pay out ???????

Interesting question. I would never have thought to do that. Always figured you needed to get insurance in your own country before you left BUT now that I'm considering a company in Australia (world nomads), which seems to offer travel insurance to people from all over the world, why not get it in India? Somehow, the infamous Indian bureaucracy might be a good reason to NOT buy it there Or maybe they won't sell it to non-resident non-Indians. They really make a lot of distinctions about Nationality in visas and stuff.

Anyone got info on this idea?
