Hello Tony & welcome to indiamike.com
You must have travelled on the Shatabdi train to Amritsar (Executive Chair Class), you will not find the same class on a long distance train to Goa. Train 2432 departs Hazrat Nizamuddin (Tuesdays and Sundays only) at 11:00 and gets to Madgaon (Goa) at 12:25 the following day. First class (air con) = Rs 5430 2-tier air con = Rs 2915 3-tier air con = Rs 1985 EDITED TO ADD.... Train 2450 departs Hazrat Nizamuddin (Saturdays only) at 07:25 and gets to Madgaon at 13:15 the following day. First class (air con) = Rs 4301 2-tier air con = Rs 2252 3-tier air con = Rs 1438 Sleeper Class = Rs 531 (not air con) First Class (air con) is the equivalent of Executive Chair Class; it will be a compartment with 4 berths or a smaller Coupe with 2 berths. (Will you be travelling alone? I know a way of vastly increasing your chances of getting a coupe if there are 2 persons travelling). This train travels through the Konkan region during daylight hours, the views are amazing. Detailed information including photos of the above classes of accommodation Knowing the Indian Train. An excellent thread by beach explaining all you need to know about Indian trains.

The only 4-berth compartments on the Delhi - Goa route are in First Class air con on the Rajdhani Express (train 2432) and the Sampark Kranthi Express (train 2450), details of both trains are in post 3 above. (I've only just added the details of train 2450, so you may want to have a look).
The First Class air con berths are expensive, but you get what you pay for and an additional bonus is that you will have no trouble keeping your beers cool. (sorry, a little joke there, the air con in First Class is on maximum and to be honest, I find it a bit cold) Three of you booking together (on one booking form) will almost certainly be given a 4-berth cabin together. London - Delhi - then Goa - London is unlikely, most international flights to/from Goa are charter flights, I haven’t checked, but if I remember rightly the other international flights out of Goa will be to Gulf countries (lots of people from the Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala work in the Gulf region, so there are many flights). So you may be able to come back via a Gulf country, but the price is normally high, the cheapest option would be to get your flight back from Mumbai, you can either get a flight from Goa to Mumbai or an overnight or afternoon train. Most flights to London depart from Mumbai at crazy times, like 4 or 5 in the morning, so an overnight train will make for one hell of a long day. Train 2052 departs Madgaon (no train on Wednesdays) at 14:10 and gets to Dadar (Mumbai) at 22:55, perfectly timed for the crazy departure times from the airport. Air con Chair Car on train 2052 will cost Rs 665 |

Hi, when you mean the train journey has good views, do you mean 2432 or 2450 or both?
