Thomsonfly flights

Has anyone flown with these to Goa? If so, what's the flight like?

We will be flying with them on the 4th Dec and because they are traditionally a short haul carrier was wondering about the conditions.

Also would love to know if you get films and what they are.

I've never flown "Thomsonfly", but have flown "Monarch" ( also a 'short haul' charter line.. ) a number of times to both Goa & Kerala..

I can't talk for Thomson, but have found Monarch FINE, but as ever with charters, space is the main gripe. You should at least get to stretch your legs in Bahrain.. Food is fairly typical but decent enough.. However, for the price you can't complain.. I've flown to Goa ( from the UK ) for £99 return !

Re. Movies, you will no doubt get something bland, and you may have to pay a "deposit" for your headphones !

Have a great time !

Yep, about 2 years ago.. After I posted this reply I checked a couple of current offers and at the moment you can find 2 weeks in Goa for 14 nights for £149 which includes taxes and hotel.. Insane really.. But you need to leave in a week's time !

SOMAK are a very good company, I went with them to Kerala many years ago..

Many of the very cheap deals are from Manchester, but Gatwick is OK too.. Just don't expect to cherry pick your dates, and forget Christmas or New year ! I think March is JUST in season.. And 7-14 days is the norm. Try the Teletext pages

Still, if you're shrewd, going scheduled can still be cheap - I'm flying Heathrow - Mumbai for 6 weeks with GULF AIR for £326 inc tax - which is pretty damn reasonable in my book !

... Sorry, no, but I never take the allocated hotel as it's usually somewhere I DON'T want to be.. See it as a cheap flight and maybe a night's accoms either end to get a free transfer to the airport !

Hi all,

If you wish to take advantage of a cheap package deal to India (purely for the cheap flight!), similar to some of the ones that have been posted in this thread, is it ok to stay in India and not use the return flight?

Yes, but your 'reps' would appreciate a quiet word so they are not too concerned.. Some of the deals are "dormhouse" accoms which basically is 'code' for flight only ( charters need to offer one night's accom ) and it is often expected that people trow away the return ticket..

However, personally, I would go for scheduled or a single sceduled if you're going longer stay.. Last year I got a flight back from Trivandrum ( single ) which I bought a week before departure for 8000 INR or so.. Scheduled flights to and from India seem to be pretty competitive at the moment with more carriers seeking to gain market share of the 'booming' Indian economy... An example being VIRGIN now flying to Mumbai etc etc..

Fantastic thread, using google for hours on end to find cheap flights and still cant get this kind of solid info. Thanks to all concerned, absolutely love these kind of threads that gets down to the really nitty gritty. It is great to get feedback on the travel companies and airlines. Nice to know that people still go out of their way to find a bargain.

Cheers for that info and as I won't be travelling until August I guess that will be out of the charter season so I will have to take a scheduled flight
