OK, Goa isn't an Island. The Goan authorities are training 100 lifeguards (about 40 are female) to patrol the beaches of Goa. These lifeguards will hopefully go a long way to preventing the dozens of drowning that occur each monsoon season to (normally) Indians taking a break in Goa. --------------------- Regarding these 100 lifeguards........ Will the quota system be used for hiring? We need to see that the Scheduled castes are fairly represented and what about the visually impaired? ![]() | |

| Indian woman can do anything in a sari. But perhaps the ones who live on "islands" are not so in touch! |

| This guy should be one of the lifesavers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Moussambani I remember during the Olympics during the heats, he was struggling to keep his head above the water. |

| As a side issue they could always start a wet sari contest ,it could bring in extra revenue witch could help finance the lifeguards ! |
