Hi There,
The place you are looking for is the Dragon Tattoo Studio. It has been closed since last apeil but will open up again in October in a bigger and better studio. There in Calungute on the same side as the petrol pump, ask anyone alg there and they can show u where they are. Its run by 2 brothers and the best one is Anil, he did my tattoo last year. Brillant service and totally clean so no need to worry there. best of luck |

Hi Sarah,
Did you get your tattoo done in the end? That Dragon studio is now open under a new name Dragon Ink. Its a great spot - have a look and ask for Anil. He is the best. Let me know how you got on. ![]() |

Yeah, I'd like to go see Anil. I am in Baga. He is on the main road? Anywhere near Infanteria or the traffic circle? Thanks for your help.

Am just back from Goa 2 days back and having read this thread on the forum, since I wanted to make my visit Goa a memorable one that I could cherish, I was very keen on getting a tattoo done for myself. So I went to this place in the afternoon around 1'o clock and the guy over there, I think his name is Anil, rudely told me to come back at 8 in the evening as he was busy (to my surprise without a single customer inside). When asked whether at least I could look at his designs to decide on in the meantime which of course didn't require his participation, he again flatly and rudely refused.
Since 7 hours was a long wait, I went around and came back after couple of hours and thought better to reconfirm my appointment at 8 with him in order to not to get disappointed so I politely knocked on his studio door (which has the sign that reads "do not enter without permission" in block letters) and the guy came out and scowled at me when I asked him that I just wanted to tell him that I was On at 8 if he had not booked any other appointment. By now, I was already having 2nd thoughts about getting the tattoo done by him but I let it aside thinking that the artists usually have a different approach to people and spent my time around baga beach until 8. When I went at 8 to him, he from inside itself told me to come after half hour and then again another half hour. By now I had already waited around for him for >8 hours straight and considering that my ankle which was on a cast for a month which I got removed only on 11th before going to Goa was already in a lot of pain, it was sure a very tolerant wait. Finally when I did get in the studio, and asked him to show me some designs and I was really excited and thrilled that finally the wait was over and in few minutes, I will have my tattoo... but the guy seemed as least interested to actually even consider trying to discuss with me what innovative stuff could we do for me. He pointed me to some design books and started telling out with rates which is Rs. 1000 for every square inch he would cover (I wonder how many square inches did he cover for Sarah for 2000 ). Though I felt he was expensive, but I was ready to spend so I said ok to it. In the meantime, one foreigner came in and he happily took him in and to my surprise was actually sitting and looking at 5 designs and was designing one collated one for him... and guy wasn't ready to spend even a minute with me for that!!!!Finally, he showed me one design which I told him looked more devilish and he said he doesn't have anything else to offer and told me to download from internet what I want and come back, to which also I agreed (after 8 hours of wait!!) and when I was stepping out and putting my sandles as my ankle was hurting due to the hardness of the floor, the guy scowled at me to shut the door, I did except few inches as I needed the support of the door frame to put my sandals on, and the guy once again rudely shouted (read as ordered me as if I was his orderly) at me to shut it completely. I told him that he was being rude and that I will close the door once I manage to have my sandals on and that it wasn't required to be and that's it and the guy actually started screaming at me. Anyway... here you have my experience with the tattoo. Of course needless to say that after this experience I lost all my enthusiasm to get a tattoo done at all and came back without one. So if you are an Indian doesn't matter NRI or whatever and especially male, I am sure this place is not for you for you shall be treated shabbily there. |

Well Sarah... I am not discounting your experience and I am not sure where do you origin from for that surely would decide the treatment you get as I know many of my friends who have been treated similarly in Goa at different places by different people just because they are Indians... and I have stated my experience for people to know the other side of the coin only and not to debate with people's different experiences.
And I do respect people's privacy as much as I do mine but running a studio in the market with no PR person available for visitors to interact with doesn't warrantee scowling at them, if you don't want to be interrupted. Its not a hotel room where Do Not Disturb sign does mean something and makes sense. |
