If your innocent, I appologise, but we've had a run on fake ID's to promote hotels etc.
I'm tempted to delete the thread, it seems like an advert. Considering it's a new hotel, what more can you find out about the hotel that isn't already on the website? Convince me...... |

OK, sorry, we've had many fake ID's lately and a first post with a link to a hotel is always going to be viewed with suspicion.
So lets start again....... Hello fuel and welcome to indiamike.com The hotel seems pricey, but then most things are in Goa. I just come back from 2 weeks in a hotel in Calangute. So, any questions? |

Wow, that is a hell of a bargain.
Calangute will be crowded though, sorry, not trying to spoil it, but it will be. Nothing really stood out in Calangute, but the Jungle Book trip was great and wonderful value for money, I've a feeling you might want to do something like this halfway through your trip. All in all, I enjoyed my time in Calangute, My girlfriend and daughter absolutly loved it. Whenever anyone pulls up on a motorbike and offers you a card, tell him "no speak Englis", these people will drive you nuts otherwise. (Time share touts) |

there are loads of bargains like that on the thomson website, if you can fly from manchester.
i know calangute will be busy but it is not too far in a taxi to drive to the south or north past anjuna. what was weather like when you were there? |

I think it rained 3 times, once at night and the other 2 times it lasted less than an hour, we got back 10 days ago. We made a last minute trip to little Vagator to try to see a clifftop sunset, it was an eye-opener, there were more people per square metre of beach than there were in Calangute, the restaurant was poor as well. |

was it that busy there?
what kind of people? in january this year there wasn't that many people there. first time i went to goa was in 1992 and i went back in january and i simply couldnt get my head round how much it has changed!!! i mean dont get me wrong there are still some beautiful places just of the beaten track, it was just amazing to see how much of a tourist infrastructure had evolved in 14 years. |

It wasn't that bad (Calangute), not too many people there, but we really noticed the difference in our 2nd week.
We'd gone down to Murudeshwar for the weekend, when we got back it just seemed twice as busy, still OK though, but the locals said that they were just getting ready for the rush, and that by the end of November it will be packed and remain that way till the new year (except for Xmas and new year when it gets even busier). The beach at little Vagator is about 150 metres wide, there must have been 150 tourists and I counted 20 beach sellers (at 17:30), this was on the 9th November, so very early in the season. The locals were putting up more and more restaurants and bars on the beach, I had heard it was a relaxed place with few tourists, but it was the only time we couldn't get a seat at the front of a beach cafe. I had to smile though, all those people on the beach has probably gone to find a quiet beach, and turned it into one of the busiest. |

Looks like an IndiaMike branch office in Goa is likely in the near future to provide assistance to those who can't navigate the Indian Railways website. ![]() |
