Suggested Resorts In Goa
Can anyone suggest any really good resorts to stay at in Goa?
My wife and I are planning a trip to Goa in October of this year and would like to stay in a resort for one week, and travel/site-see for two weeks. A few questions: 1) Does monsoon season end in October? How is the weather during this time? 2) What are the names of a few really nice resorts in Goa? Are there all inclusive packages available? 3) What are some of the major sites that are "must see" while in Goa? Thanks in advance for your reply. Anthony |

How much $$$$
Hi,
There are many resorts in Goa, it all depends on how much you want to spend, if money is no object, get a villa at Taj Exotica very nice hotel / resort with a great beach. I belive the rates start from 5400rs or so. S.Thakur |

Thanks for the info. Is this resort in North or South Goa? Does 5400 work out to about $138 Canadian? Are these rates normally negotiable? I guess our budget is about $150 to $200 Canadian per day. Would this rate include food and drinks?

The Taj is located in Benaulim (not sure exact), which is south of Panji, mid point in Goa.
Any 5 star hotel in India, I do believe the rates will be fixed unless you t have some promotion coupon or otherwise, but I would check the rates with them to be exact. There are numerous other resorts in Goa, it all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to do. Personally, I would head up to the Kokan Coast of Maharashtra, there is one gov't run resort, with miles and miles of beaches with no one in site. Great food and decent prices, but unless you want to spend you days on the beach and nights drinking there isn't much else to do. S.Thakur |

Ok, missed your budget $150 to $200 per night you can stay anywhere in Goa, they have all inclusive packages but the good food is out of the resorts and in the beach shacks.
Don't worry about all inclusive packages, they are a rip off in Goa, food and drink are very cheap. You can eat like a king for less the $5 Cad |

as sthakur says, all inclusive is a waste of money, a rip off, food and drink is so cheap and MUCH nicer/fresher in the shacks/busy local restaurants etc. The only time I have had food poisoning was from food in 4 and 5 star hotels! (3 times - Parma Ham, shrimp spring rolls and ice cream!!!)
have you had a look at the Leela Palace? meant to be lovely...http://www.theleela.com/default_sale1.htm other big chain brands that are probably 4 star and above are - intercontinental, rennaissance, raddison, park hyatt, check this link for a guide to hotels and their star ratings: http://www.hotelsgoaindia.com/ |

Can highly recommend the Intercontinental Grand at Cancona, only stayed there one night but it is a beautiful place, fab service, massive golf course, water sports and the best beach in Goa where hawkers cannot cross a certain line to hassle you, Palolem is just round the corner too!

I stayed in Fort Auganda in april 2003 (Taj group , its adjoining TAj Exotica) cant say about the prices as we had a conference there , stayed for 3 nights, good room and cottages ( these are built on artifical mountain like place) overlooking the beach if stayed on the top . food was yammeee at the restaurant. so its highly recommended . but kindly check the rates.
as Taj is adjoining we also went there to swim (it was free for Auganda customers). it seems to be much nice than Fort Auganda. but cant say as we were there only for a short while

Nirola, you are confused. The Fort Aguada beach resort is in Sinquerim while the Taj Exotica is in Benaulim a distance of 42km! What you are referring to is the Taj hotel complex in Sinquerim which actually comprises 3 units, 1) Aguada Hermitage 2) Taj holiday village 3) Fort Aguada beach resort All these three units are distinct from each other although they are part of the same complex. |

Yeah the Pousada Tauma is the best boutique hotel in Goa although it is fairly expensive.
