Hi all
Although I've been eavesdropping on here for ages I never got round to signing up!! Must say its a great site full of really useful hints and info-so hopefully all you 'India' experts out there can help me with a simple piece of information I need. We are travelling to Goa with some friends and their 2 children in November, on our last visit we travelled by train to Karnataka and visited an elephant rehabilitation centre and did the elephant washing thing-I loved it and hoped to do something similar this time with the kids. However as they are only 7 & 5 and the journey to Goa will be long enough I dont want to drag them too far on arrival. I have seen a couple of mentions on another site that one of the 'spice plantations' in Goa now has elephants on site-any clue as to which one this would be? I know they would love the spice farm anyway but an elephant would be an added attraction and solve a problem for us. Happy travelling ![]() |

Thanks for response-this is the site I saw the original pics and description-it just doesn't tell me which 'spice farm' it is-I need the name really-as its definitely not the one I went to last time
Its possibly in or near the The Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary but thats really just a guess from other stuff I've seen Hopefully someone will be able to come up with the name-but thanks again ![]() |

You're referring to the Sahakari Spice Farm near Ponda. I dont see a webpage for it so I guess you have to book a tour locally.

I have a friend that used to live in Goa who thought that Sahakari was the one but it could also be a place called Pascoal Spice Village.

Spice plantation with Elephants.
Hello lucylaverda
Its my photo album you guys have been discussing about ! Just got a mail from Mecasa, a member here. This spice plantation is about half hour journey from Goa. Its called simply - SPICE PLANTATIONS. PH NO - 0832 23 40 329 Its a wonderful place for a visit. Elephant wash is the main highlight of the trip. You have to pay for it. I paid the price and enjoyed the occassion. So did everyone. Its simply fun. Kids will have lots of fun. I am going to goa again in January with my family. Hope to take them to this spice plantation again. Good luck. regards, ken the teaman. |

Ken, you said that the farm is 30 minutes from Goa. So it is 30 minutes from which place in Goa? From Panjim or Margao or Mapusa? The plantation looks to me to be in Canacona in Goa not far from pepper valley.

Checked out the Sakahari link and emailed them about their elephants-yes they have now got elephants which you can wash for 'fee'.
Ironically this is the same Spice Plantation we visited in Feb 04-they definitely didn't have them then!! Thanks again to all you helpful people-cant wait to go now Regards ![]() |
