Sky Bus Project: what is your opinion?
does anyone know the status on Sky-Bus Project? Are they up and running yet? I know they were testing it last year.

Do you think this would make travelling a bit easier in the bigger cities?

Reading these reports - would you put foot on this project because from what I read earlier in the year - when I was in Goa - I would not be seen within yards of it - never mind riding on it.
When an underpass in Margao is in flood hours after it was opened how can they can they get their act together to run a Sky Train yards away from this. Sydney overhead is brilliant - where will this one come? My comments are regarding the Sky Train which is in testing in Margao - there have been accidents on the short stretch of track and people killed during testing which should not have happened - what will happen if it ever comes into service. |

Oh please. for the love of god; of all the tests done there was one accident and one person killed because the driver was overspeeding past the posted speed limit of safe operation (sort of like overspeeding in traffic....bad idea). Sure if you overspeed, accidents happen. in this case the driver paid with his life. Maybe i should also note the horrible brake reliability of Acela Express (USA - Amtrak). does that mean you wouldn't set foot on one of them when visiting USA or everything made here is crap? |

Stupid stupid politicians. Why does politics has to step in the way of innovation all the time? Politics in india is a poison for their development. The indian scientists/engineers worked hard at this project only to see politics step in and shut it down. Hell, i often wonder why the ISRO and other organizations are even bothering to try and improve is all of this will come down to stupid politicians. Then you wonder why indians scientists excel everywhere on the planet except India. Quote:

Skybus is not up and running but the Goa government wants to set up a mono-rail network in Goa!

Even with low "costs" this is almost certainly going to cost more than the price of some decent roads in South Goa.
Is the inviromental impact any less from such a project I doubt it! The only thing that instills confidence in this project is the involvement at contract level of the same guy that is now building the Delhi Metro (a big success as I understand it) Other than that, it comes across as one of those "put us on the map" type ideas from a misguided official with too much power!! |
