Shacks in Goa

They are going to be open on 15th Nov .Anyone going to Goa before then ,there are "private" shacks open on the Baga, Callangute beach. I dont think there will be any shacks on the Candolium beach till 15th Nov.

Tourism dept formulates policy for beach shacks
NT Staff Reporter
Panaji, Oct 23 The tourism department, in consultation with the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, has formulated the policy for beach shacks for the upcoming tourism season and submitted it to the government for administrative approval. The approval is expected to come this week and the allotment of shacks will be done soon after that, sources in the tourism department said.

To me it looks as if they imported some german bureaucrats to set up a stronger policy for beach shacks and hoteliers. Feels like coming home when reading this article. Rules, regulations, restrictions everywhere and for everything. Is this globalization or what?

Thanks for that York Stller.Did you read this ......

Taking note of the large number of beach beds which cause congestion on the beaches, the GCZMA has recommended that each shack licensee should be allowed only three pairs of deck beds with corresponding three beach umbrellas. Hoteliers have been permitted to use five pairs of deck beds with corresponding five umbrellas. No beach beds were to be allowed outside the shack limits

Blimey i dont go till Feb i better put a order in for a sunbed !
When i was in Goa in May the sunbed police were very strict on the sunbeds,it wasnt like it used to be where they come along and all the sunbeds have moved then they all go back on the beach the minute they have gone.
6 sunbeds a shack ?? crazy

Thatīs exactly what confused me. If they really drive this policy some regulars will be confused as well this season. And besides Iīm far away from being a typical Baga sunbedder it makes me wonder if this action may not be part of a masterplan standing behind due to kick out the so classified "low class tourists" who "only drink and dine cheap" and take their stretch of beach as a "home" for a fortnight. Guess, luxury is on approach in Goa.

So Now we will have to buy our own sunbeds, and clean the beach
before we can sit and enjoy our holiday this year. The beaches are filthy why have they not cleaned them up?

And burn to death on the hot sand ! most days you cant walk bare feet on the sand if your not walking right by the sea .And i for one cant sit in full sun any time of the day ,i have to have a umbrella to at least cover my face .
I managed to get a free beach umbrella from a business in Goa < had to have a meal with the owner> but i used to strap the umbrella on my scooter and go to Mandrem beach and sit by the fishing boats where Westlife filmed their video for their new song ,Oh memories .

And so it goes on. The poor locals will have lost so much
money this year, so we can expect the prices to take a hike on
the beaches.

I just cannot understand the mentality of the Officials
surely they want Tourists to return year after year. It is very sad for all those who depend on the tourist industry.
Are you serious about only 5 pairs of sunbeds per shack?

Goa really doesnt want foreigners going to Goa ,they want domestic tourists but they like to sit on sun beds as well !

Ongoing from the seventies Goa was labeled to a brand through propaganda and clever marketing, but for ever more people it´s prised beaches, the exerted flower-power atmosphere and easy living become overrated. As for me, Goa is in the middle of a changing process, yet only nobody knows where it all ends up. Kerala might be an alternative, but not for me. As I stated before in other threads, I do like this state and don´t want to miss it. To and fro in beach policy doesn´t bother me that much, though I do sometimes feel alienated what might be next.

But then....everything is changing.
