Saint Xavier day - Goa
We're going on a 2 week holiday to Goa and are trying to decide whether to make it up to Delhi (with the cheap Deccan flights at the moment) or to go to Bombay for a couple of nights and back to Goa for this festival day on 3rd December. From my LP book I read that 2004 is the year that Saint Xavier is on show (only happens every 10 years!).
I would be going for the atmosphere, not for any religious reason (if that makes a difference?).Can you advise if it would be worth missing the Taj Mahal for? (I figure I may always see the Taj Mahal another time (not soon though!) but I probably won't get to Goa for this once every 10 year spectacle again. Then again it is the Taj Mahal and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to see it!) I’m very much undecided! What festivities are there going on during St Xaviar’s day and what time does it start and go on till? (I’d already booked a train ticket and 1 night hotel in Bombay before I realised how cheap the flights to Delhi now are! Now I’m torn between flying out to Delhi on a whirlwind tour of the Taj Mahal and back or sticking with the original plan of Bombay for a couple of nights and the Saint Xaviers day! By the way - can someone confirm that Air Deccan flights are OK for Non–Indian residents? Also, are the seats guaranteed and do the planes leave as scheduled??? Looking forward to your replies.....as a newcomer your posts on other topics have already helped oads! |

, Sorry guys - no wonder there were no replies!Anyway, I got my brain in gear, made my decision, and will be in Old Goa for St Francis Xaviers day on Dec 3rd. Just one question - what can I expect to be hapenning on the day? |
