Safe beaches for Kids in Goa

We're off to Goa over Christmas and wanted to find some quiet beach to chill on. WE have two kids aged 10 and 7, neither particularly strong swimmers, and we need a beach that's manageable for them. I hear Palolem is ideal, but it sounds too busy for us. We thought of Agonda or Patnem. Does anyone know what the surf/current is like at either around Christmas time? I spoke to one guy who said Agonda wasn't very suitable in general, but that there wasa spot at the southern end of the beach that was 'like a swimming pool'. can anyone help? Thanks, Jon

Hi, Welcome to Indiamike
I think that Agonda might be perfect for you, Presumably you dont want somewhere thats dead and you probably want to find a few places that'll serve pizza and pasta and the kind of food that kids like. Apparently theres a place that serves Italian food on Agonda, But Patnem at least is within walking distance of Palolem if you want to avail yourself of all the tat you can get there although I hear theres a bit of surf.

In between Patnem and Palolem is Colomb. A nice, picturesque little bay with a few small sandy areas and some little pools where I'm sure the could frolic safely. Also might be interesting for the little tots to look for crabs and other things in the tide pools.
The north end of Palolem is better for kids as it's very shallow ffor a while.

There are alot of rocks at the southern end of Agonda, so there's probably some pools there also but don't remember.

The safest beach I think would be arambol - long straight beach, flat bottom, no rips, very small surf.
