Hi chunky1, welcome to IM.
Sorry I don't know the Roslyn, nothing on a search either, sometimes theres various ways of spelling, worth checking. Taxi from the airport costs something like 700 -800 rupees (about a tenner) Takes just over an hour, theres a government taxi booth right opposite the exit doors at the airport, buy your ticket there & they'll appoint you a driver. Check the goa threads on IM theres lots of info. |

Hi there Chunky1.
If you say the hotel is next to a church, then I think you are staying at the Roseland in Calangute. I stopped there about 7 years ago on my first visit to Goa. The hotel was managed by Roland and his wife and they had a fluffy white dog called snoopy (they should have named it snappy, it growled at me every time I went near it). The staff were all very helpful and friendly and if you fancy hiring a moped they can arrange this for you. I would advise that you take a torch, as it's a good walk to the shops and drinking holes and the lighting is particularly poor in that part of Calangute. There were taxis outside a hotel across the road (I think it was called the Maria Rosa), so you'll not be stuck for transport. All-in-all, I can say this was a nice and clean hotel, with a lovely pool (including childrens section), but I wouldn't go back because of its location. Enjoy |

taxi price
When we left in April the taxi fare to the Airport was 500 rupees from Calangute and it won't have gone up much since then.
When you get the taxi at the airport there is a board on the wall with the price to each destination and you have to pay this to the man at the desk. What you give to the driver, as a tip, is then up to you. You can change money in the airport just after passport control and immigration but don't change too much as you will get a better rate outside the Airport. It is not hard to find the money changers as the arrivals hall (ha ha) is very small. Today (9th October 04) the exchange rate was just over 82 rupees to £1 sterling so changing a tenner would be enough for the taxi. |

I don't know how much you pay to the Airport but that 500rps is the most we have ever paid - it was 450 for a couple of years. We live there 6 months of the year and go to the Airport on quite a few occasions during this time to meet relatives etc and use different taxi drivers and have never been asked for more than 500. Infact one young lad took my son there for 450rps in March.
This is from the Airport to Calangute - is this where you travel to or do you go to the South? |

You are right it is the Roseland. I don't mind being out of town as long as the hotel is clean and friendly. I have since received reports on the hotel from a bloke (Ludzero) who has a "Shack" on the beach. I met him when he paid a visit to Scotland in the summer. Once again Thanks |
