Thumbs up RoadTrip - Bangalore to Goa

Hi Guys,
We are planning for a roadtrip from Bangalore to Goa. While browsing through forums we came across two popular routes to reach the destination.

1. Bangalore - Shimoga - Goa
2. Bangalore - Belgaum - Goa

We do not see any significant difference in the distance but there are considerable number of negative feedbacks for via shimoga route. People compain about the road quality and possibility of getting stuck because of landslide etc.
Here i request all the people who have tripped to Goa recently to comment and inform us about the best route.

Also, we were interested to spend some time at Jog falls while on our way to Goa. Please suggest.

I usually take the NH4 out of Bangalore uptill Hubli and then turn off towards Karwar just before Hubli this connects the coastal highway NH17 all the way to Goa. This stretch was good except for one stage between Citradurga and Haveri as NH 4 is still getting worked upon and you ll need to keep taking diversions otherwise this road was fine.

Thanks

How much time did you take to reach Goa? Bit concerned because we have only 4 days which include the travelling time. Also, taking diversions might get confusing for someone who is going for the first time,

Took me 14 hours to reach Anjuna in north goa. This is with ample rest breaks and by diversions I mean that you will have to keep shuffling between the right side of the road and vice versa as these parts are under construction, I did not mean that you have to divert away from the highway in any way.

If you need to visit jog falls, you need to opt for shimoga route.
