Question renting a restaurant in goa

my husband alan and i are moving to goa in august 2007, initially renting a house out there. alan is a musician and singer (semi pro in uk)and has been offered a contract there.i don't want to be dependent on him so would like to start a restaurant offering an alternative menu to indian for tourists fancying abreak from indian food.don't know where to start to find suitable rented premises. all the sites are offering buys only.would like to be near to bogmalo(near dabolim airport) if possible. any expats out there who could put me in touch with a link?

Carol - I assume that you're accompanying your husband on an x visa? If so, you won't be able to legally work in India. As there's a long period of time before your visit, you may be able to arrange a sponsor for yourself.

Unhappy renting a restaurant in goa

wow! what a fast response. thanks for that. we're both able to get working visas through alan's contract as i will be his manager and sound engineer so that shouldn't be a problem. i'm starting to wonder though if i will just have to accept that i will not be working the first year and will have to find premises
after i get there then set up for the following season

I would say you definetly want to wait untill you can see the premises before you organise them. A lot of Indian restraurants in India have problems you might not be ok with, you would be best seeing them.
You may well find someone willing to rent you a restaurant when you arive. You don't need to asume you wount be working for a year

I seem to be ill most times i go out, but I think it's probably due to overwork before I arrive. Anyway, looks like we will see you when we go out in feb if yiou're there for 6 months.
