Quietest beach in Goa
What beach can we go to get away from the crowds down there?
Is secluded and romantic even possible anymore?? |

Depends when you go - I was in Calangute and Sinquerim last October and it was very quiet.

My husband and I stayed in Agonda Beach in the south part of Goa, we really enjoyed it. A very peaceful and not a big party crowd.

Hi,
I agree about Palolem if you can time it for the very beginning or end of the season. There are less restaurants and shops open but also less people. |

Beaches in the North are crowded, when we were there last summer Baga, Calangute and Colva were the most crowded of the lot. Those in South are more calm... Palolem should suit you, was voted one of best beaches by Sunday times, UK
This might help, http://www.palolem.com/ |

Mandrem in the north is quiet.
Agonda in the south. Or Galgibaga south of Palolem. You'll have it all to yourself. But it's mostly causaurina trees not palms. Or Cabo De Rama, theres a great beach close by that is all yours. Forget about Palolem for quiet and romantic. It's very busy and spoiled. |

I'd head for Mandrem or Asvem. We've just been there and you can walk along the beach to Arambol if you want to be with loads of people but it's very quiet and the beach is beautiful up there. Went to Palolem a couple of years ago and it was really busy and that was mid April. Met some people who had just come from there and it's not as much of a paradise as it once was, apparentky there's a big problem with mosquitos and waste there now. Alternatively if you want seclusion head to Tarkali in Maharastra - thats secluded.

It's way down south. South of Palolem a ways. Like I said above, it's got causaurina trees mostly,a kind of pine and not many palms which takes away from it imho. But you have a maybe 3 km. beach pretty much to yourself. There is a village there with a church. I'm pretty sure theres a hotel if I remember right. But it's hard to get to. I don't know if theres a bus so you must have your own transport. It's a beautiful bike ride to get there. You take NH17 south till I think Mashem. It's a little town on NH17 with some restaurants and stores, etc. lining the road, but you take a right, right before all this. The road will go downhill for a few feet and then wind around for some miles before you reach Galgibaga. |

Galgibag is across the river from Mashem and you can take a canoe, the bridge was not quite complete when I was there in 2005.

Calangute/Baga was the most touristy beach I went to, but this was in February. Palolem is touristy too, but it seemed to be more budget tourists that families in Palolem, but that's the best beach I've ever been to in my life.
