post-wedding stay with family

Hi all,

Planning my wedding for december in Mumbai. I will be hosting 20 friends and family from around the world and want to take them all down to Goa for 5 days or a week after the wedding.

i have spent a few months living in north goa - Mandrem, and loved it. But I think it will be too isolated for them, they will want to do the Old Goa visit and probably Anjuna market, both of which are just too far away. Plus there isnt really the right accomodation in mandrem.

So, I need to find somewhere we can take 10 - 15 rooms, next to the beach, not too busy, NOT calangute or baga. And think they will need a midrange level hotel as my aunties and uncles are not backpackers. Any recommendations?? i want to find something really different, pretty and quiet - no big parties nearby, which at that time of year i guess might be difficult.

I've never been to south goa so maybe I could try there? Any advice much appreciated!

cheers,
michaela

Try Palolembeach - South goa, it is far enough from the crowd so that you dont get tired just looking at them panjim and margoa would be about 1.5 hrs or so.

Has a beach resort right on the beach though cant recommed it as my friends who stayed there complained of bed bugs. We stayed in a hotel/ guest house run by a local just off the beach. the rooms were clean and basic. they have about 15 room with or w/o bathrooms. in December2004 end we paid about 900 rs for a double room. so thats the range that you can get.

best of luck and best wishes for your wedding.

Michaela, in the month of December prices of every hotel in Goa are jacked up disproportionately. You did not mention how much your budget is and as a result it is difficult for me to recommend anything specific. There are quite a few options available depending on how much you want to spend.

i think the budget would be around 2000rupees per room.

I'm really looking for a place that has a lot of character. Was thinking at first of the hotel at Bogmalo beach because it has its own private beach and seems like it mught be a bit quieter (dont want to be around the rave scene) plus is close for drives to Anjuna / Old Goa. But the hotel looks so boring! and big! I guess I want to find a place a little more intimate..

hmmmm
would love some help!?!
