Places to Stay Palolem
Hi,
We are a couple with 2 kids (6 & 1 yr old in Feb 2008) I'm looking to Stay in Palolem for 4 Nights 4-8th Feb 2008. I Inquired about rates from Bhakti Kutir and Ciarans. I have got replies but the rates seem pretty steep to me. Here is what they have quoted: Reply from Bhakti Kutir "We have the availability for the stone cottage and it is available from 4th - 7th February. The price for the stone cottage is Rps 4000/- per night plus 5% tax. We can provide extra mattress to you if you require & for extra mattress it will cost you Rs 200/- per night." Reply from Ciarans "We have double huts with en suite facilities including hot showers. They have private verandas overlooking our gardens with hammocks and sea views. They are 2900Rs per hut, per night. We also have sea facing huts with verandas that look out onto the ocean. They too have en suite facilities with hot showers. They are 3500Rs per hut, per night. Finally we have sundeck huts in our garden which have rooftop sundecks, all with sea views and hammocks plus all the facilities of our standard garden huts. They are 3500Rs per night. We would reccommend an extra bed for your six year old which we can provide for 500rs per night" So in effect a double room with an extra bed is costing around Rs 4600/= (Almost 100 Euros) Another option is MahnaMahnas in Agonda They have quoted Rs 1250 + 500 for extra bed for the period 15th Jan to 15th Feb. It's not the Belgium but some other room. Has somebody stayed here ? Will it be comfortable with the kids? Are these the going rates....i will be really stretching my budget with Bhakti Kutir and Ciarans. Do i have any other options of nice clean places where we could stay with our kids for around Rs 2000-2500 a night in or around Palolem ??? Any Advise would be appreciated. Styler |

Hi Styler
The prices you are are being told are very high for the time of season you are going .Palolem is a back packers paradise with people coming and going everyday of the season http://www.palolem.com/ may help you But the only time palolem will be full is the xmas season .In februaray you should get a good family room easily Enough my sugestion would be to turn up at palolem .place your loving wife and children in a nice beach shack so they can have a drink and something to eat whilst you take a little walk around and find something suitable then haggle for the total amount Im sure youll find something alot cheaper than the prices you have been quoted Hope you have a great holiday sharon |

The last time i went to Palolem was in Feb 2006, and then i would just walk in without a booking and i paid Rs 1500 for a night at Bhakti Kutir, and Rs 1000 for a night at Palolem Beach Resort. I paid Rs 400 as a walk-in at Fa-Ma-Fa in Arambol and Rs 1500 at the Chalston Beach Resort. I guess that would be the right thing to do this time too. Anyways thanks for the Advise Styler |

Hi,
You stayed in Palolem Beach Resort before, and I think that might be an option. Its defenitely more basic than Ciarans, but also a lot cheaper. They also have (a) familyroom(s) and you can easily book in advance. Rooms are clean and comfortable enough, it is safe and the bookings we made so far were accurate and reliable. Last year Xmas nonAC room 700RP (this year 800.) Mail: yogishwer@sancharnet.in You also might reconsider Patnem Beach,(f.i. "Home" - Homeispatnem.com or Goyams - google). I didn't stay there but walked almost everyday from Palolem to spent the day there. Heard good things about Mahnamhamas(?) Agonda. Good luck Mea |

I have sent a mail to the Email adress of Palolem Beach Resort that you mention. I'm hoping they don't quote inflated rates for booking in Advance. Last time in Feb 2006 i just walked in and got a decent room for Rs 1000/= Styler |
