place's to dance or party?

We are planning to do a small film shoot in goa in november. We want to do some shooting at a rave kind of party. I heard that rave parties are forbidden since this year in Goa. Can anyone tell me if there still are some disco's r other places on the beach where bakpacker and hippy kind of people tend to go to at night and where there's music and dancing?

Kindly regards
Dehens

Try Club Cabana or Club 9 at North Goa...but not raves for sure...

I guess Club Cubana has been closed by authorities..

To OP : you might not get very good responses on this as there were lot of changes last season, and you have to wait for this season to start to know how things actually shape up.

well i heard of news that it was shut last year ... not sure though...

Dehens... you should keep a tab on these Trance music forums, they post party details on them ... keep an eye for them you just might be lucky... but by all means raves are illegal !

raves are not illegal...doing drugs is..

That is the reason the term rave has become infamous..

Backpackers and "hippies" don't go to discotheques in Goa because disco's are expensive and these people can not afford them. The foreign nationals that you will find in the disco's are the more affluent ones who usually come to Goa on charters.

I was in goa this past new year's...went to the Shalom lounge in Calangute which had Midival Punditz playing live (an ethno-fusion band, was amazing, complete with vocals and live tabla and flute)...after their performance DJ Cheb i-Sabbah played more music, chilled-out, ethnic tunes on the turntables...crowd was great, it was 2 nights before new year's eve and the whole event was FREE...that was by far the highlight, as the other places i went to were just the super-fast trance music with people dancing out of control...but the club Utopia was pretty cool (besides the music)...the dancing was all outdoors, at the foot of the beach, in an enclosed space...dancefloor was a mix of concrete and beach sand...cool vibe, got there at 2am and stayed until 5, and it was still going...another place we went to was somewhere in the middle of the forest near anjuna, and this was a full out rave...have no clue exactly where it was (taxi drivers know) and i remember entry was around 1000 Rs....

I'm going back this new year's, i'm hoping i can catch more ethnic fusion events, live or otherwise...DJ Cheb i-Sabbah played at the guesthouse/restaurant Bean Me Up in Anjuna last Xmas day as well, everyone that went to that said it was great...

In Goa any loud music (above 45dB) after 10PM is illegal (this is the law), these so called "raves" are definately illegal, hence you could get into a lot of trouble if you try filming at one of these. Do make sure you have the organisers permission before you attempt any sort of filming.
Photography and filming have been a big no no at these parties for a long time, altough it seems to be changing a bit nowdays.

Hi,
if you want a real "rave"-Party that is legal go to Club Paradiso. If you want a really good "All-Style-Music"-Clubg go to Club Cubana. But Cubanas Entry Fee is expensive. But for this you can drink for free

Are you aware that any foreign commercial/professional film shooting needs to get permission from Delhi? Apparently it is a tremendous hassle to get it organised and can take months.

If you are going to shoot something as controversial as rave parties you for sure need that permit. Without it you run a serious risk of all your equipment being impounded.

If you are just doing handhold small video shooting without any crew there should not be any problems though.
