which part of goa are you going to first? There is a little place called Vagator 22km from Panaji that has many good places to stay right near the beach and in the forest. very nice! and cheap, no bookings possible , just turn up and you will find something.

you dont know the name of the place you land in? maybe I can recomend something if I knew where?
Alot of the small cheap hostel type places in Goa dont have email booking or even phone bookings in some cases, it is best to just show up and have a look around. Just dont go with any touts! happy trails..... T |

Hi, I would get on the train and head south from the air port to Palolem, its a nice beach and easy to find cheap accom right on the sand, lots of other travelers around that can help you. Once you have seen enough you can head north and experience a whole range of amazing beaches all the way through Panaji and up to Vagator , see map http://www.globalcommerceuk.com/palo...es/goaMap1.gif

You can rent a scooter for 200 per day, and you can negotiate a deal for long term rental. Don't know how much a proper motorbike will cost you. But I would recommend buying a scooter second hand if you want it for a few months. I bought a scooter for 6000rs 8 months ago as its still running fine. However you will have to put up with the hassle of repairs when it breaks down.
