Patnem Accommodation

Did you all turn up and find somewhere after all? We turned up on 30th after being in Benaulim and stayed at Mickey's in one of the rooms for Rs 350, very basic but lovely people. Going back mid Feb.

Patnem Accommodation

Hi!

Had two weeks recently at Patnem. All very quiet - all the shacks seemed to have accommodation - and understand its even quieter now New Year's over.
Stayed at the Casa Fiesta. They have five sturdy bungalow type huts. Large room, double bed, locable cabinet for clothes, very efficient ceiling fan. Western loo and shower attached.
All very clean. Cost per hut - the three lower huts (about foot off the ground - 1000r a night. The two upper - 1500, but steep steps - great view over the beach. The restaurant was excellent, very friendly service.

Ate at Home couple of times, good food but pricey, not sure how busy the accommodation was. Seemed to attract families with young kids, nice chill out area. Goyam - looked smaller than on the web site, didn't look any better than the Casa.

Did a couple of boat trips - booked at Star, on the corner by the street. Rainbow Travel also helpful for booking taxis etc.

Casa - managers name Papu - couldn't be more helpful, especially when one of us was ill, immediately went off and got doctor.

Great trip - need longer next time!

Blimey! is this a normal price for patnem now? I paid 80rs per night for a (very) basic hut only 3 years ago. Loved it then, would i still love it now?

Another price example after my request two days before:

Goyam Goyam - http://www.goyam.net

HI,YES WE DO HAVE ROOM ! CHECK IN TIME IS 13.00 HRS AND CHECK OUT AT 12 NOON.

ROOM WITH SEA VIEW IS RUPEES 3000 PER NIGHT AND BEHIND ONE FOR RUPEES 2000 PER NIGHT.

YES TAXI PICKUP CAN BE ARRANGED FROM THE AIRPORT THEY CHARGE RUPEES 1200.

I think, these pricing are very high.
Internet - rates are not recommended
( my opinion ! )

rgds, wayan

The Casa (see above) was booked by a friend who is out there most of the year - not on the internet. Seemed to be about the going rate for huts on the beach, although the same owner had rooms on the main road to Palolem for 500r a night. Even boasted a TV!

Quote from another "semi" ex pat. "When things are quiet and no tourists - the answer seems to be to put prices up" ??
Worth turning up and haggling, plenty of rooms around.

BTW - Goyam looks great on the web, but in fact has shacks and huts both sides - looked much smaller in real life.

Any info about "place with no name"?

Hi All, I am new on the site.

Me and partner are going to be in Goa in Feb end and heard from an acquaintance about a great beach hotel/lodging place called "place with no name". But they didnt have any contact numbers or address.

The only other reference I have found to this is from a thread on Travel mike (Palolem -Place with no name) who mentions that it is in south Palolem and some directions.

Has anyone been there? Please let me know how this place is and what the rates may be feb end - Mar 1st week... Thanks

Can't believe some of the prices being quoted, we have stayed in Palolem for the last couple of years, paid 300 rupees for big, clean hut wth en-suite. Should I expect to pay double this year or are most of the prices in line with previous years ?

I went to Benaulim in 2005 and 2006 (March both the times). It was sunny, pleasant, beautiful. Me and partner hung out at this place called Pedros and enjoyed every bit of it.

They have a live band performing sometimes. I remember in 2005, they had a Reggae two member band (Graeme and Alan) from the UK and they made the evening drinking and dinner all the more cheerful...

We are going to Goa around 22nd - 1 mar this year. We missed the 2007 trip due to work.....

Just came back yesterday from Palolem and we paid Rs500 per night for a good room with TV and attached bath at Flavia Paradise. It was just on the beach right behind the beach huts which were not really worth staying in as they were not as clean and comfortable as well as overpriced at Rs400 to Rs500. We did eat at Casa Fiesta on the main road near Palolem beach which has some lovely Kerala cuisine like the Fish Pollichathu. Definitely worth visiting at least once.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Palolem

Hi All,

I am in Palolem with hubby dearest! We stayed at a place called Le Ambruchia (I may have got the 2nd word wrong). It was a basic room (walk in thru "Waves" beach pub and you get in about 30 seconds.

Rs300 per night, basic room with double bed and a bathroom. Fairly clean I would say although the owner totally pissed us off. We had booked the room from 22nd to 26th, but they banged on the door at 9:30am today as some
