thanks for the link - that's funny.
i was followed by hoards of kids doing the whole tummy-rubbing, 'no mama, no papa' routine, when i was in bombay. it was my 2nd day in india and it probably showed!
sounds like it may be worth a proper visit this time, so may have a couple of days there before we fly home (when the darling offspring has wised up a bit).

Yes, those metros are far better appreciated when India has had a chance to grow on you a little I think. & Can then suddenly be amazingly fun and exhilarating to explore, when one is less beset by all the little daily hassles and insecurities and so on that may beset one at first. Anyway, I'm sure having been there even back then will make it easier on you now, chances are you'll feel right at home.

But so anyway taking some of your final days to do some exploring & general souvenir hunting & people-watching & pub-hopping or just aimlessly cruising around I can well recommend. On a tight budget, it's an expensive city though, esp. on the accommodation front, and a lot of even fairly simple entertainment will naturally not come for free either. We were just discussing it again here: Book hotel or not?
