Palolem, What's changed since 2001?

I am heading down to Palolem at the end of my holiday for three days. Meeting up with a friend who lives there who i have not seen since 2001.
Can somebody please tell me if i am expecting a shock
In 2001 it was a lovely sleepy beach with a little bit of nightlife. Now i am hearing it's like Blackpool(god no!)
It must still have some charm?

You will see a big change for sure.
Beach shacks, sunbeds, and lots more tourists.
Never the less Palolem is still a very charming Beach.

There is a boat trip to a little sandy enclave called Butterfly Beach from Palolem.....i have been told this is well worth doing.

I think comparing it to Blackpool is a slight exageration although i here over the Christmas period it is really full.

Hope you enjoy your stay.....We head to Goa next week for 3 weeks and intend to spend a few days at Palolem also.

Regards,
Remy

Was there in '93 (paradise - only two places close to the beach, one shack on the beach for drinks and food and further rooms rented by villagers); came back last year (december) and still liked it (walked over to Patnem most of the days, to enjoy a more quiet beach) and will come back a couple of days on this years trip.
But, yes, it is crowded (never been to Blackpool, but in my imagine that must be different). Russians are also coming
nevertheless, enjoy
