Palolem accommodation

Hi

Travelling to Palolem on 24th March. Apparently its easy to turn up and find a hut, but was wondering if some places are better than other i.e. private toilet, better location etc? If so, does anyone have the phone numbers/e mail addresses of such places?

I simply cant wait and there is not a yellow smily icon to add which would do justice in displaying my excitement But this grin gives an idea.....

Any tips much appreciated and i'll be sure to share what little i know when i've visited.

Cheers

Hi Doug49,

In palolem you can find cocohuts from 150 Rs to 1,500 Rs. Obviously absolutely different but always in front of the beach..., if depends what are you looking for.
My advice is to choose once you are there. In March occupation will be less than 50%, you have plenty to choose.

Jorge

Palolem

Agree with Jorge. From IRP 300 up without toilet (e.g. Tony Cottages) and upto IRP 1500 with toilet and shower (Cafe del Mar). Both good choises.

I agree, choose when you get there.

When you get to the main street leading down to the beach with all the restaurants on, go down to the beach and turn left. Walk up the beach and choose one from there.

There's some nice huts overlooking the whole beach at the end at a place called the 'bridge and tunnel.'

if you're looking for comfort go behind the bridge and tunnel away from the beach up the hill and there's a place called bhakti kutir. It's really nice, but I recommend being on the beach.

Hi again,

Bhakti Kutir is a good solution, the only thing is the price: from 1500 to 3500 Rs for a double room. have a look at them:

Have also a look to: http://www.chayagladpalace.com

And if you are interested how cocohuts and cottages are made:

We stayed at the Palolem Beach Resort(turn right off the main drag). We stayed in both a private room, and a large tent. The room was huge with 2 beds for approx 800rp per night, with a private bath and shower. The tent was also large with 2 beds, cooler during the day, but the toilets/showers were shared with all. I think we paid 650rp for the tent. We were 3 people though, so the shared expense was cheap. The restaurant there is also really good and convenient to have on site.

Palolem, for me, was paradise. We extended our stay and additional week, just because we couldn't bring ourselves to leave.

The only thing I would change is to add hot showers(ours were cold) and AC. I found myself getting a mild heatstroke by the time we left, naseous, dizzy etc. Once I got into an AC room, I was much better.

I'm envious, I would love to be back there right now!!!

I stayed at a little place with only four rooms, near "Rainbow Travel" - I don't know what it was called, but it was run by a mother and daughter duo. There's a shop called "Bhau Jewellers" in the front. It was Rs300 for a room with bathroom (cold shower) and toilet and also had a TV. To find the place just look for the big satellite dish on the roof.

I found Palolem to be one of the more pricey places in Goa backpacker standards, what we did was walk around the village and find a house where a wommen gave us a nice room for about 150 rs, toilet in the back and bucket shower.... But on the beach at that time it was hard to fins anything less than 300 rs.

I also found Palolem quite expensive but then again I was there on Boxing day. As I arrived I was immediately approached by a guy who proposed a beach hut for 500/night. As it turned out we only stayed one night because we had a pretty bad experience due to the tsunami after-effects (pretty scary...). I found Palolem very beautiful but far too crowded for my liking...
Hey Jorge, thanks again for your information, are you still travelling?

Now looking back to 2005 is amazing

Look how fellow members are telling about Rs. 500 being a higher amount. Or Palolem being overcrowded. Seems like life takes a full turn. Boxing day will always be expensive in any part of Goa. Always better to choose an accommodation which is a bit away from the beach. My favorite Palolem accommodation will always be a bit away from the all time high action zone. And it will never be too difficult to find one nor it will be ever too far. Just a thought.

Is there any way to find a nice hut/room with a private toilet for under rs500? I'm travelling alone in Feb and would really love the luxury of a private bathroom but with a budget..

Try Sai Valentine's. You might a get a hut with pvt. bathroom in your budget. But you will have to be contnet with inside rooms but the sit out will come with a view.

I am sure there will be more options for you once you reach there.

Alternative to Ciaran's?

Hi,

Ciaran's is fully booked till 15 Jan. Is there any alternative accomodation which you can recommend.

I would like a on-the-beach accommodation. As i'm with wife, this has to be a decent one (attached western toilet, etc.)

Edit - just to point out - I dont mind a budget similar as for Ciaran's. This is cos most of the budget options are limited in facilities. I'm looking for 2 nights stay in 2nd week of Dec - edit over.

Thanks,

Zany.

Zanyguy,

You could look out for the Palolem beach resort or the Goyam bungalows on the Patnem beach. You can also try the Home Patnem. IMHO, you will have to be quick, since it appears that the season Euphoria has already crept in.
