The list of places to stay in Palolem are too numerous to go into and that's a fact!!
Suffice to say that you will easilly find somewhere that fits your needs and budget!! Dump your pack or check in somewhere just for the night and go explore the options! |

Hi Bifter,
As Cyberhippie say, you will find all kind of accommodations even in High season. The best thing is to have a look around and decide. You can find cocohuts in front of the sea, from 250 to 2,000 Rs per night. Last December I stayed there for a week in Hotel Oceanic, a very good option with swimming pool and a very good restaurant. The owners are british and really welcoming. http://www.hotel-oceanic.com Jorge |

If you're looking for somewhere at the upper end of the scale, Kiran's Camp has some very nice cottages with en-suite etc. Bhakthi Kutir is good as well - they have a website and serve the best wholefood around.

Tony's cottages are nice, clean and on the beach. Cheap also, some with toilet.

hey on palolem u shud try getting a cocohut at this place called "Dreamcatcher" (if u get their tel number, pls msg me, thanks),thts located at the north end of the beach.the surroundings of this place is like a lagoon where the river meets the sea.the location's simply breathtaking.i dint stay at this place coz it was completely booked by a film crew who wre shooting a malayalam film on palolem.
also, while ur there u shud find out about these tree houses tht r on palolem.i had been there in the 1st week of june when they wre brought down. if ur in a party mood u can stay at cafe del mar thts centrally located on the beach of palolem.they have thes really cosy cottages tht r located on the beach. try walking on the beach of palolem northwards where u can walk across the rocks to the other side of the hill.u may hav to take a boat to get there depending upoon the tide, to reach butterfly beach. if ur looking for lesser crowd u can try agonda beach thts located about 8-9kms north of palolem. patnem beach to the south of palolem is also less cowded.have fun! |

Thanks all... brilliant advice....
We are going to be backpacking and like a relitavely quiet scenic life.... but we would still llike some of our creature comforts ie. en suite shower/wc... otherwise a bed and mozzie net are fine. Presumably this will be easy to find... will head North along the beach (good advice!) and maybe to the more remote beaches. Would also like to meet a Sadhu and try a chillum... any chance? So many questions.... Thanks everyone... Rich & Em aka Bifter |

Palolem - Patnem
And I will be there at the very end of December - not the best time one can imagine, as everything you mentioned seems to have been booked a few months in advance. I have already called Oceanic, Ciarans Camp, Touricks, Dunhill and others. If you have other ideas, please let me know. Have anyone heard of the "Home" on Patnem Beach? I would be very grateful for any information on them.
Best wishes, Kasia |

www.homeispatnem.com It's a nice place on the beach, but out of my price range. You can find cheaper places. But they have good food and cakes and real coffee. |

Palolem - Patnem
Thank you!!! I'll try to contact people from the Patnem beach first (Ananda2193 you're my hero!) but perhaps I will have to ask GoanCanuck for a favour - thanks for the offer, I really appreciate that!
Best wishes, Kasia |
