Question North Goa vs. South Goa

I'm planning a trip to Goa later in the year and would like people's advice on the difference between the two. Where should the first time vistor stay? My girlfriend and I are planning 3 days here and I would like to stay at a Luxury hotel/resort and have access to things to do during the day but would also like a very nice beach to go swimming. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Most of the Luxurious Hotels are located in South Goa. Although some of them are also located in North Goa.
North Goa is the happening one as compared to south Goa.
South Goa is more secluded as compared to north goa.

We returned from Goa 18/2, much preferred the South - few crowds, peaceful. We stayed in a small guesthouse but did visit the Taj Exotica, Benaulim for drinks, looked like a lovely place.

North Or South

i returned this morning from North Goa. Found it much beter than south, but depends what u are looking for, south is more commercialised, whereas North is less so. Beaches are crowded but u just ask the taxi drivers to take u to quiet beaches. Try The Dolphin Shack, its the last beach in North Goa (name escapes me but can find out), very secluded and quiet, and u can see the dolphins from the shore or take a boat ride out to them. No sellers at all, beautiful beach. Its about 40 min drive from Baga/calangute.

What is the most popular beach in Goa, and where do all the tourists tend to stay at?

Calangute (North Goa) is the most popular beach in Goa.
There are lots of places around the beach to stay.

beach in goa

The really quiet beach with the dolphins was kerim beach.
Calangute and Baga beaches are nice but very crowded and full of sellers.
Its about a 40 min taxi ride to Kerim from Baga/calangute, where u will find the Dolphin Shack, its a little bit of paradise!!

Kerim, should be a real secluded beach, no mention of the same in Outlook Traveller Goa guide.

Are there any places to stay near Kerim beach ?
Also are there any public transport from Calangute or Mapusa to Kerim beach.
Please give directions in brief towards the beach.
