New Year's in Palolem

Hi there,

My flatmate and I will be arriving in Goa on 27th Dec.....early hours of the morning!. We want to head straight to Palolem
and sort our accommodation probably for 1 week. Does anyone have any suggestions for accommodation and should we book in advance? I have heard that there are really cool huts along the beach that you can book for as long as you like but I am not sure if we will be ok just to sort one out when we get there. In fact I heard that this is mainly the only type of accommodation! Any suggestions?

Unhappy Tough time of year!!

This unfortunately is probably the worst time of year to arrive in Palolem or indeed any of goa's beaches.
Accomodation in Palolem at this time will be tight!! and you can expect to pay 300/350 rps upwards for a very simple hut on the beach.
A room will probably cost you more at this time!!
It's the busiest time of the year for the locals, and like everywhere else they're cashing in, don't dispair though, with a little patience and a bit of flexibility, you will find something.
If not in Palolem, try Colomb or Patnem these lesser frequented beaches will probably turn up something!! Palolem is only 15 minutes walk from the above so you can still join in the celebrations if you like!!
As far as booking ahead for this period, I doubt if you would get anyone to commit to a booking for this time of year at least not without spending a lot of rupees!!
The local business folks know there's going to be a lot of "walk in custom" around now and probably prefer to take their chances!!
How long are you thinking of staying? let me know by PM, maybe I can steer you in the right direction!!

Happy Traveling!!

Thanks CyberHippie,

I am quite aware that this is the busiest time and the most expensive!.... but really it's the only time I can get of work. We are going for 6 weeks. I think we will just have to take our chances and find out when we get there!.........part of the adventure I suppose!.

Thanks for your reply :-)
