Wink New Year in Goa

We plan to visit Goa from 27 Dec 2007 to 02 Jan 2008. We are two families traveling together with kids less than 9 years age. What shud we plan for the New Years Eve? Also, anything we should be careful of? Where do we party?

You need to be on the beach new years eve. Dont move off the beach as you will never make it back to the beach with all the people and traffic. I wouldnt want to take children any where in Goa on new years eve .
If you staying in a hotel did you check to see what they have planned ?

Do you have accomodation? If not then I would say dont go as you have children and it is not easy to find accomodation. As for parties on the beach - I dont think they are place where I would take my kids

Its so busy on the beach you cant see one grain of sand . I wouldnt take children on the beach that night either.
I have never heard any one stay at Vasco. I only been once and that was when the French navy was in Goa and we went back to the Charles de Gaulle ship that was in the docks.
Not a place i would want to go back too. Vasco was where all the women you "pay for " was. I think they might have cleaned it all up npw.

There won't be much happening in Vasco,as it is more of a working town than anything.Your best bet is to go to Bogmalo which is always lively at New Year,

I thought you said you had accomodation already.Otherwise you are leaving it late to book anywhere now.

Did we interact Earlier on this ??

I would be reaching Goa on 30th Dec afternoon. However I have been looking for last 20 days and have not been able to find anything in my budget. So I am seriously thinking of postponing my visit.

As you are in Arambol, do you have any clue if I can book something for lower than Rs.500, my requirements are simple, a room with attached toilet !!

as I've found prebooking anything that cheap is near impossible, unless you know the place, and they know you.

i don't think it will be too much of a problem finding somewhere - its just a case of getting around and asking...

there's this place on the main road towards the beach - take a left where you see the sign pointing to the german bakery/dream catcher, and ask in the shop in the corner. i remember they did their rooms out last year to include an attached toilet. thats about 300 per night for a big room.

i can recommend MoonDance in Little Vagator for family rooms. they have 'inside' and 'outside' rooms. i've stayed there for the last 4 years - loved the basic inside rooms, but big, and an attached bathroom.

last year they didnt want me staying on the inside, and preffered people with kids (i'm too loud!). out of the 6 rooms, 4 were taken up by families. us children free boys and girls had to stay in the smaller, cheaper outside rooms.

great atmosphere, great restaurant. owned by locals, run by nepalese. 400 a room per night during that period.

haven't got the number handy, but i'll have a root through my stuff - i had about 100 of their cards! i'd definately recommend it...

i wouldnt cancel your trip coz you cant find somehwhere. yes, a lot of the hotels will be fully booked, but then you dont want to be staying in calangute anyway, and a room there would cost you 4000 minimum. get up to vagator - there are a load of places around. i got there on the 21st last year and had no problem. i get there on the 20th this year...

good luck!
