Hi...
Welcome to the beach party!!! ![]() Goa is great. There are enough nice parties and the like at Goa. Otherwise what is Goa for? Don’t worry too much about rum (or fenny) cost. It’s cheap. You can have a nice time there without damaging your pocket too much Forget 5*s Get a shovel and dig a little at the IM site ![]() |

Hi Stoichov, welcome to indiamike.
like beach says, dig around the site a bit and you should find lots to interest you for trip planning. As for Goa, October is 'early season'; the weather should be pretty good and everything will be green shortly after the monsoon, but most of the 'beach shacks' will not have opened for the season and I suspect it is a bit early for the 'big' parties. The most activity will likely be in the Calengute-Baga-Anjuna part of North Goa which has the most mid-range lodging, bars, and tourist facilities so is more of a year-round destination than the quieter places further north or south. a/c is not that common in lower priced places, nor is it really needed in my opinion. Rum, and indeed all IMFL (Indian made foreign liquor) is very inexpensive when bought from a bottle shop -- typically Rp110-150, or $2-3 US, for a 750ml bottle. I don't know what a drink costs in a bar -- a large beer is usually around Rp40 in a restaurant -- a bar with live music, it will obviously be more, depending on setting, etc. As to 'where do young people go' -- generally, people tend to go where they find what they're looking for, whether it is peace and quiet or a party scene. Check around the posts about goa in the same section that you posted this for more ideas. cheers, m2 |

I would say the Trance crowf has moved on allot to Chapora these days you have something called "Nine Bar" on the beach of Vagator. If your looking for trance etc thats a good start... But If your looking for the hippievibe I would say thoes partys are not really there anymore...

Hi
Hi stoichov.
A "peg" of rum will cost you between 10 rps and 50 depending on where you choose to drink. Most of the places along the beach will charge about 25 rps for a rum (recommend Old Monk 110 rps a bottle in the local "bottle shop") The parties were mostly confined to the Anjuna Vagator Baga area and last I heard they were still going strong, though as someone already mentioned the heady days of the late 80s-early 90s are confined to mythology! But if it's a dance you want well there are plenty opportunities. Even in Palolem there were parties last year through December and January (much to my chagrine, don't worry about it I'm a boring old fart) low key affairs but the music was hot they tell me and the sound system sounded fine!! Other than that the whole coast of Goa offers bars and restaurants where you can hang out and meet a few people. I can only advise you on Palolem but there you'll find a great beach, plenty places to hang out, drink, chat up women or whatever else you fancy. Not too many AC rooms there as yet but there are a few, one ran by a British couple just outside of Palolem. For more action the Calangute Candolim beaches may be what your looking for, with a few clubs etc!! and a bigger choice of rooms in your category!! Happy Traveling ![]() Last edited by cyberhippie : Jul 20th, 2004 at 02:26. |

Its really a sad thing... I went to Goa first time 92 and I was Shocked and astouned... The Partys (Hilltop, Bamboo Forest, Anjuna Fleamarket etc) was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, I went home and thought about it for like 10 years (all I spoke of for a looong time, most people I knew didnt have a Clue what I was on about...) Then eventually I went back, And allmost NONE of that vibe was there anymore... Sure partys are still there, but like Cyberhippie tell you the Amazing stuff Really turned in to Mythology... There must have been more people feeling the same way about it I guess... Anyways, probably If you look you still find what your looking for. Lets hope so...

Could be that freenote, and it probably is too, but Loads of things did Change! Goa is more lika a Tourist resort this days, with people flying in Ibiza style!! The partys lack love and they Lack uncomerciall initiative and they lack decorations... Maybe Its me not beeing on acid anymore, but I do belive the good loving ENNERGY and HIPPIEVIBE is Gone for good from the beaches of goa... There is some of it left in Arambol on another more organised level and Its happening in Gokarna too... Gokarna is still "the Place" But who knows for how long? Last time I was there The "INternet cafe" syndrome was spreading like a virus And this was ON THE BEACH! Thank god for mudd huts and hammocks...
And may all be happy! ![]() |

Ac rooms in Palolem
Hi-
We are planning to spend October in Palolem. I was wondering if you could give me more info in the AC rooms rental by the Brit couple you mentioned. Thanks, Inbal "Not too many AC rooms there as yet but there are a few, one ran by a British couple just outside of Palolem.
