For nostalgia, Anjuna ' The Early Years'.

In the days when people didn't just go for a couple of weeks holiday, or with return tickets & plastic for any emergencies.
I'm thinking back to the days when people just dropped out of mainstream society & ended up in a lot of cases broke & bedraggled in Anjuna.
Friendships were made and people watched out for one another, If you had something you shared it, tomorrow you might need some help yoursself.
Living was fun free & easy, No having to book accomadation, there was non to book except Aguada Fort (hotel not the jail) though there was always & still is room there. No timetables & ticking boxes, anti repellents, fancy soaps & deodorants tissues & toilet rolls, You would have been laughed out of the place.

Trouble was It was so so good, and we told everybody,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I like South Goa, a big area I know but with it's secluded beaches, beach resorts, greener than green paddies, jungles, palm groves, cashew orchards rivers and the mighty western Ghats for me this area of Goa really has it all!!

Ah, this sounds so nice, I wish I could have experienced Goa back then. Unfortunately I had only just been born so through no fault of my own missed out on those times.
I always stay in north Goa but always look forward to my week in Palolim. Although it's got far busier over the last few years it still holds some really fond memories for me. I enjoy getting up to watch the sunrise and see people swimming and doing yoga on the beach. Bliss.

Sorry to disappoint you but you missed Palolem at its best circa 1990. Absolutely fabulous with just a single shack serving only fish curry and rice. There were maybe barely 20 Europeans staying in a few tents and no money-changers, touts, taxis etc.

Not me, I'm sure I'd remember writing such a classic

Thumbs up

Agonda Beach in South Goa. Still reasonably un touristed. Very clean and quiet and a few great places to eat cheap fresh thalis and seafood.

Yes it does happen every year, 15, 28, 12 people a sad loss of life.
Theres as many if not more Indian tourists drown as foreigners, due to a mixture of heavier alcohol consumption than usual & not being strong swimmers. Take Care All,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
