Motorbike Rental -

Hi All (Again)

Another question in preparation for our holiday in November.

I would like to rent a Motorbike, not moped, while we are there. This will probably be for the full two weeks, so we can explore (a bit) & get around.

Can anyone recommend a "reliable" place to rent one from. Thinking the local Royal Enfield would be ideal, as I will be two up with my wife on the back.

We are staying in the South near Benaulim Beach. So anywhere near there & Madgaon would be ideal.

For those of you who worry, I do have experience riding large bikes on UK & European roads, but not roads in India. I have also got a IDP ready for the trip.

So any recommendations and idea regarding costs would be great.

A royal enfield 350, for 2 weeks, should cost you between 250 and 300 a day, depends on your bargaining skills.
A balaj pulsar 150, 175,200, will cost about the same, but far more reliable, easier to handle, electric start etc.
The Enfield is great for long runs, but for around town the pulsar is far better.

If you want a real good enfield, in Benaulim, ask for a Goan man called Cassidy, everyone knows him, tell him you want to rent the enfield, that he bought from Nick the old Dutchman, last season, this is a lovely machine, not been rented much, not worn out yet. I think this will cost you abit more, as disc brakes, electric start etc. Take care, Indian roads are crazy.

Hopefully Cassidy will have the enfield, don't suppose there is any way of arranging/paying for beforehand???

Failing this do you have any other suggestions?
