I understand your concern, however this means that people from Delhi, Mumbai, now Bangalore and other cities should have started to Crib much earlier. Due to influx of non Delhiites in Delhi, non Marathis in Mumbai they are already among couple of most expensive cities in the world. So we must start cribbing about millions of immigrants who come here to work..?

PS : About the property issue, lets discuss that in relevant threads. There has been enough said about it.

I AGREE....however regarding the property issue i only mentioned it in reply to your post regarding the purchasing of homes in Goa and had to correct you regarding your statement that foreigners were'nt allowed to purchase property in India...but otherwise i'm in agreement enough said.

Would tend to concede to machadinhas point of view for one can dissect everything without an ending. Besides, for me there´s a difference between polemics and a discussion, while I´m not so sure anymore what we´ve got here. And albeit I see myself as an educated person, I have to admit I never studied social sciences, applied economics or even indology, but if this means I´m not entitled to have a meaning and position for the development in Goa since I´m just an ordinary, regular tourist, well, then probably most of the forum members better shut up and stop posting here.

@shashank.aggarwal

Anyway, by no means one can seriously expect someone like me to be the development aid volunteer for India and 1.2 billion people with all their ethnologic or religious problems, the suffer, hunger, pain and massive poorness. But if desired, the Indian government can talk to Mr. Steinmeier, Germanys foreign secretary and vice chancellor. He´ll surely gives his best. He´s a well skilled politician, if you catch my drift.

I agree with your sentiments. This is a forum to discuss Goa not general Indian politics which some of the high and mighty posters on here seem to think. Some of us on this forum who either live here or are regular visitors have a pretty good idea what is happening in this part of India and it's not looking good.

Met some yuppies yesterday, all waiting for the property prices in Goa to fall (which they seemed to think was likely, given the SEZ and foreign illegal property goings on) before buying.

Dunno how that will help Goa, but there it is.

PS: Not a single problem faced by Goa is unique, many Indian States have identical problems. A few are magnified because Goa is a small State, however.

Many cities across India resent out of state owners of land, though these are now more and more real estate corporatations than individuals, at first sale. Many States resent outsiders, many locals have seen real estate prices zoom out of their reach in other parts of India.

And of course, rules about foreigners buying land are Indian Central Governments, not Goan. As are Visa rules.

To imply that Goa is unique or will have unique solutions is akin to the frog's thinking in the well.

They don't survive in the off season, most of the beaches closes down almost completely once the foreigners has returned home after the winter season and only reopens when the foreigners start flying in the next winter.

I hope that food is good, and if Jade is buying I might consider going there
Otherwise I think I just go to my normal shack and get some good food and a sizable number of drinks for half that money

Exactly, shashank. Finally we seem to be in complete agreement. Only question left is, what are the options for all too many Goans and their families? Over the decades they build up little stores, shops or services subject to tourism, primarily foreign tourism. They depend on the seasonal visitors, yet often learned nothing else and once had put all their hopes into the upswing of tourism and had aimed their lifes for it. This is indeed a big problem for them, if the foreign currencies are no longer flowing steadily, especially when given that, as stated in this forum before, a big fraction of locals is out of work off season. And that´s the hardest part of it for the tourist I am, namely that changes have to come to satisfy Indias population and it´s needs as a whole and therefore lots of individuals certainly will have to suffer from it.

I do know some of them, so this is my very personal dilemma, however it´s a dilemma of globalization as well. Do one personally regard a country like India as forlorn land because of it´s seemingly unsolvable problems caused by to many millions of people or do one see the individual as a human being and try to understand it´s personal struggle in life?

Give us the academic answer and you´ll be nominated for the Nobel prize for sure.

Hi...am feeling confused now..which airline is Monarch, when i do a search for it it seems it only fly to Spain from the UK...? Not to India..
If anyone can give me a good tip on where to find a cheap ticket, 1-way from Goa to London that would be lovely!

Thanks!

If you have landed in Goa on a schedule flight you have to leave on a schedule flight.
I would book a flight back to Uk from Goa.There are a lot of travel agents in Goa that sell tickets to Uk. But a one way ticket will probably cost you nearly as much as a return.
You can buy a schedule flight out of Goa with a 12 month open return. My friend always flies back on Sri Lanka airways.Cheapest
