main backpacking hubs & areas in goa

Greetings

Me & a friend are going to spend 5 weeks in India from November onwards. As it's her first time there, I figured a soft landing with goa would be nice. As I understand it now, most of north goa is now a tourist hot spot (baga>calangute>candolim etc. (by the way is that derelict ship thing still standing at candolim?>)

We're both in our early 20's & whilst we are looking forward to eating lots of delicious food, make the most of the spa centres, we also thought it would be fun to find out where there were lots of hippie folk to mingle with, i.e. the main hubs & beaches?

Don't really care for pubs or bars, more keen on the rave type parties that look awesome on youtube! I've heard Anjuna/ Vagator areas are the best places for that, any particular suggestions for elsewhere? Plus what's it like down towards the less blackpool-esque areas of south goa?

I personally haven't been to Goa since xmas 2006, it was good fun, esp the fireworks across baga/calangute/candolim beaches We stayed at Alidia's (nice but pricey, prob gunna go for somewhere in Anjuna this time). Only discovered Anjuna on my last day there after going on a mini trek from Baga, and kinda liked the free party/ summer festival feel to it so was hoping to go back to explore a bit more.

Probably going to spend a week here before moving on to Hampi/ Mysore, & then bimble around Kerala for the rest of the adventure

Yes there is a derelict ship thing still standing at candolim! I guess Anjuna is still the place where the hippie culture is pretty active!
