Hi,

Can someone tell me in detail on what public transport is available from Madgaon (margao) railway station to pajim. Since we would be travelling from Hyderabad, our train will not pass through thivim.

Where near the railway station can i get the bus.
What is the frequency of the bus.
Which bus stand in panjim will it take us to.

Also where in Panjim, near the bus stand can i rent a self drive bike or car.
What would be the rate.

appreciate any inputs.

From Madgaon Railway station you need to take a bus or rikshaw to the New bus stand on the outskirts of the city. Remember to climb the bridge so that you reach the opp. side of platform no. 1. From new bus stand you will get buses which run non - stop to Panaji. It will take you to Kadamba bus stand in Panaji.

Ronak.

Dear CMS,
Once you are out of the station head over to the taxi counter for the black and yellow cabs. You will have to prepay your fare at the counter if i am right as per the published rates which are mentioned.
It will generally take about an hour to panjim.

Hi Quietriot

It is safe to travel to Calangute from Madgaon train station at midnite, but if you are concerned about safety then you can stay in some hotel in Madgaon and leave for Calangute around 10 AM as checkin time is usually midday.

Trying to book a hotel in Calangute at 1 AM may be a bit awkward as the front desk staff in at least some of the hotels would be fast asleep. But if you have a booking in some hotel that would be better as the hotel will be expecting you and some half asleep staff will be able to show you to your booked room.

Thivim is best for Calangute, no question, so save a load of hassle and get off there and go straight to an hotel in Calangute. You will need to take a taxi/rickshaw from the station as there will be no buses that late.
