Lost Nikon lens cap....Camera shops in Goa.

Within 10 mins of landing in Goa I lost my Nikon lens cap. Excited about taking a sunrise pic while walking on the railway bridge in Madgoan was not the most brilliant idea.

Any ideas if I can find a lens cap here in town. For a Nikkor 18-200mm lens.

Thanks...

I don't know where to get anything in India, but I am a professional photographer and have lost dozens of lens caps - along with lots of other stuff - over the years. If nothing better comes up, here are 2 suggestions:

1. Find a houseware shop (or whatever the equivilant might be) and see if they have those little plastic covers designed for covering jars (elastic around the edges, look like mini bathing caps). They work as lens caps too.

2. A piece of plastic bag and a rubber band.

Have used both. Not as elegant as the originals, but they did save front elements of several lenses.

Thanks Maury. I did something similar to what you suggested. Using a shower cap for now.

I guess I can wait till I land in Hyderabad to search for lens cover or something close to that.

Rather than specifying a Nikon cap, any cap will work.

You just need the correct diameter for your lens.

It may help to post that here - some kind person in India (who reads this question and, has a spare) may offer you one as a replacement.

Cheers
