I think if you are thinking about a "Western-style" brewery tour ... you may be in for a disappointment - did you see the other link I posted on an attempted visit to Arlem(http://www.newarkcamra.org.uk/bgp/warriors/goa.htm)?

You may have to jump through hoops or pay some heavy baksheesh to get a royal tour there.

Repeated from PM, so others can add comments..

Are you only going to Goa?

I ask because there are many breweries in Bangalore, and I believe there are a couple in Daman, just north of Mumbai.

(I don't know any of them, I just learnt about them from reading Indian newspapers for a couple of years.)

what bangalore really needs is a micro brew pub. i've been trying to talk a brewer friend into helping me out with one for years.

then of course mr kingfisher would probably come and bust my kneecaps

You need to know somebody who works there. Strangers are not welcome.

That's what probably would happen all right. The big brewers are notorious bullies worldwide. In Ontario,Canada - they had some great Brew-your-own joints happening about 10-15 years back.
You'd come in choose your recipe, hops, grains(organic if you liked), brew it up and then come bottle it in a few weeks.
They got so popular that Molson & Labatt's(Canada's major brewers) noticed a .00001% loss in their sales .... so they lobbied the Government to impose the GST (an extra tax) on the final sale - which made the process a little too hard to swallow for the average amateur brewer and they all went out of business. ... so watch you kneecaps and or other body parts when moving into a big brewers turf .......

Ya see this is where I am completely and utterly spoiled. We have shops like that in Portland but I can also visit around 200 small breweries (not exaggerating) within five miles of my house. England has nothing on the stumptown citizens, biggest beer snobs on the face of the planet.

The Pacific Northwest may well be the number one destination in the world for the beer lover.

And although, they applied the tax to the brew-your-owns in Ontario - Micro Breweries abound there and Southern Ontario may well be a distant #2 fantasyland for brew lovers - unfortunately Molson or Labatt lurk to buy them out if they haul in too much business though.
