Long-term rental in GOA

Hello there, community,

i just stumbled upon this wonderful forum and thought i will give it a try. I am currently trying to seek out possible long-term rentals in GOA. In fact, i'd like to rent a house / villa, small if available, from around October '07 until April '08. I have browsed around on the web, found specifically a page called "goaholidayhomes" which indeed holds some nice offers. However, that can't be all, can it?

I wondered if anyone here was able to provide me with some tips or information regarding the long-term rentals for/in Goa. I have also searched the forum, but found only a few posts of which most where old and outdated, others not answered at all.

Maybe i be lucky.

Kind regards and summerlike greetings from western Austria.

Leonidas

Hello Leonidas and welcome to India Mike!

To rent a house in Goa, you need to do the following.

After arriving in Goa, rent a hotel room for a week and ask the local taxi drivers, waiters and hotel staff about the houses available for rent. Go personally to every house and have a detailed look at what is on offer. Don't be afraid to bargain. The initial price that is quoted is usually much higher and the owner will reduce it when he finds that you want to rent the house for several months.

Don't bother about houses/villas advertised on the websites. These are total rip-offs and meant only for those too lazy to find a better deal! Many of these houses advertised on the internet look good only on the website and when you arrive you will find that the photo on the website was probably taken several years ago and now the house is in bad shape.

Thanks for this Tip!

Although the offers at goaholidayhomes.com seem okay, of course i can not rely on the pictures fully. Also, i do not know about the prices - if these are regular, typical - or if they are the real rip-off variants? I guess so.

I will look into it, that i find a possibility to find something on site.

Thank you!

What about 6500.00 GBP.
You could live very very well on that.

I have lived on less than that here for heaven sake.

yes per month works on a calender month here not 4 weeks, we live on £100 per week but that is a reasonably good life here and includes electric water gas landline mobile internet and sky tv but not rent so yes 2 people could live quite comfortable on that amount and even pay flight back to uk.
