Apartment Rentals

Here I go again!

Does anyone know where I can find cheap apartment rentals in Goa? I have done several searches on the internet with luck, however, not in my price range. I will be leaving with very little money and need to find as cheap accommodation as possible!

I prefer to stay in a furnished apartment for at least a few weeks (one month or two).

Any suggestions?

Cheers, thanks a lot!

Andreas, fly emirates.

Andreas,
Theres plenty of accomadation to be found all over Goa,
But like mpop mentioned the earlier you get there before christmas the more choice you'll have.
As for apartments, in your price range, you'll probably be looking more at rooms, or a room, In the more touristy areas, early season, bars & reataurants often have cardboard signs pinned up outside in the street advertising rooms to rent. More rural, I'm thinking chapora, arambol, or down south the palolem area, then the same or word of mouth, all the locals know who's got what rooms to rent out.
Prices vary depending on what you get, from very very basic, ie sharing stuff washing etc, to something with a little more privacy.

It's a matter of whats available at the time,
Of course people who go back each year, sort next years out whilst they're there this year.
But you'll have no problems, theres room for all,,,,,,,,,

Thank you for all your replies!

Actually I am not much worried about not finding available accommodation any longer after your calming answers. We will be travelling there by the mid September, about one a half months before the high season begins. Also, we have a friend in India who we met on our holiday who will be assisting us once we arrive. If we don't find anything, we could always sleep on his couch.

An unconfirmed rumour I heard out in the open, can you actually rent a house in Goa for less than 3 000 RS?

Living expenses in Goa

G'day one and all!

I have almost managed to find myself a new flat in Goa and I was wondering how much the living expenses per month would be there (food, transport etc). I only know by my own experience when I was there on holiday, though very difficult to estimate this by one time experience only.

Anyone who could give me some info?

Only you could really know this,,,,,,,,,,,,
If you've got access to loads of money you'll spend loads,
If you're budget is tight you'll spend accordingly,
If you've got nothing, then you'll still survive, but you might have to beg, for a meal now and again,,,,,,,

Been there done It,,,,,,,,, and survived

Well, this is the problem actuall!. I won't be going without money of course, but I am only trying to calculate to see how much it will be estimatedly.

Such as 5 000 RS, 10 000 or 100 RS? I won't be spending loads of money, will only try to live as fair as possible (that sounds wrong?), but you know what I mean, don't you?

Ummmmmm, A guesstimate would be for an average spend, apart from accomadation, of a stab in the dark spend of:
300 - 500 Rp per day, depending on your extravaganses.
Could be spot on, could be way out

I realise that you posted this a while abck but thought I'd answer
If youa re arriving september you'll have the pick of the bunch

Depending on where you go you average around 7000 to rent somewhere in Goa
There are other locations in Goa that are cheaper but if you are arriving in September you should be bale to get a bike and go round finding the right spot for you

Granted the longer you rent it for the cheaper the monthly rent will be
But as a rough guide I'd say reckon on spending 7000 a month

By early December it becomes increasingly difficult to find anything other than rooms

You can even go fiorst to goa find somewhere and arrange to rent it from deceember or so

Anyway
Good luck
Bryan
Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that),

Shall bear the gree an a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That man to man, the world, o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that.

Also, does anyone know about becoming resident there? How much do$h you must show, banking procedure, money transfers etc?
That'll do for now
Thanks

I calculate on month rather than day
So I'll allow you to do the math

I woudl count on £200 for average living some beers food
For more extravagent perhps £300

Put it this way me my partner and son lived on £300 a month
Hope that gives you some indication

Cheers

Beer in Goa is the cheapest in india
I think a large kingfisher was 50Rs a small kings (the best) 25 if i remember right
The exchange rate was 72rs at the time ...Nice

The rum is good and cheap also...Enjoy

Actually I think the Kings were 15-20 and the Kingfisher 35-40 Its all a haze now

Beer is much more expensive in the rest of India except in Pondi ...something to do with different state taxes
