Karaswada is a part of Mapusa, the major town in north Goa, and appears to include the Thivim estates enclave on the inland side of Hwy 17. Can't say much about it as I've only passed by on the way to the RR station.

Karaswada is the outlying area of Mapusa. If you are coming from Mumbai by bus then you get down at the Mapusa bus station. Calangute, Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator are all within a 10km radius of Mapusa. If you plan on staying for a longer period it would be advisable to rent an apartment in Mapusa. Accommodation in Mapusa is much cheaper than in candolim or Calangute.

Thanks very much for your replies! Very helpful!
Anjuna - I'm going to be working with a UK-registered charity called Children Walking Tall. I actually came across them on this site. They do a lot of work with the slum children. http://www.childrenwalkingtall.com |
