Karaoke in Goa?

Living in Goa for the past couple of weeks, I slowly start to miss my weekly Karaoke sessions.

Does anyone know of a good place for Karaoke?

Should be clean, not shady, with a good choice of English songs and possibly private/separee rooms.

I saw some public places with open mic, but that's not the same and it would probably take me too much booze to try there. ;-)

So, are there any private Karaoke enterprises in Goa, or am I just dreaming?

My Indian colleagues in Singapore loved to go to Karaoke, so I naturally assume, there must be something available here as well.

Shamrock in Calangute does Karaoke. But i think its what you call open mike .Rustlers in Candolium do it as well .You usually see signs outside the restaurants when karaoke is on .
Shamrock dont usually get going till 11pm and i been known to come out of there at 5am !We all swear they do something with the clocks in there.

Won't find such places in Goa. Generally speaking Karaoke is not very popular in India.

Hi,

The Ruffles Hotel in Candolim also has Karaoke nights, along with the bar opposite the Mango Grove (cannot remember it's name) both on the main road in Candolim.

A bit loud for me.

Oha! So that probably means no separate rooms then. Hmmm, at least better than nothing.

Maybe in Panaji?

Like I said, my previous Indian colleagues in Singapore were very fond of karaoke, we went sometimes once a week after work, was quite fun!

Anyway, thanks for the tips!

And long may it stay like that. If i heard karaoke in Goa I'd be on the next flight home. Jeeez I know Goa has changed since my first trip there in 1993, but FFS, karaoke!

LOL! Thanks for the info. I hate to admit it, but hubby and I sing too. All over the world we have had a blast!
I must state an observation though. Indian guys are horrible singers!!!:P We always have a ton of fun with them, but prefer the dulcet tones of the Chinese. (of course i'm putting you on)
Hey Shephen, I'll keep you posted on our whereabouts so there could be no accidental assult on your ears

...yeah, Chinese singers are really fun to watch, but mainly no fun to listen to. ;-)

The real best singers must be Filipinos or Indonesians.

Well, since I was in Sandakan where I had the most fun, I'll agree.
We accidentally walked into a bar that was...well...not a family kind of place. We ended up staying for 1 drink which turned into 4 and sang the night away.

Nothing against Karaoke on the whole, but I take my holidays in Goa to get away from 'empty orchestra' bars. If I wanted to hear some dudes singing whilst facing a screen full of lyrics, I'd go to the Spanish Costa's instead.

It get worse Stephen, the menu in Ruffles Bar had no local or Indian dishes on it hardly, and the Chefs Special that day was..

Steak Pudding Chips and Mushy Peas..... I had to check the stamp in my passport just to check I was still in India...

That's why I usually prefer separate Karaoke rooms. Anyone can do as one pleases, no embarrassment and others aren't disturbed.

Although Karaoke in public places has certainly its advantages as well. ))

Do those places have separate booths or is it just open mics?
