Jungle Book Trip

Hello,

I went to Goa 2 years ago and stayed in a hotel while i was there i went on a trip called the Jungle Book which i really enjoyed. I am going back to Goa this November this time i am taking friends with me and am not staying in a hotel, but in a hut on Palolem Beach. I would really like to do the Jungle book trip again so that my friends can experience it, can anyone tell me if this is possible as i am not travelling with a tour operator. If so please can you tell me how i would go about booking this up when i arrive in Palolem

Thanks

Yes sure,

Basically you go deep into the Jungle to a place called Shanti. It is a 2 day 1 night trip. While you are there you stay in the Shanti Nature Reserve. When you get there you check into your accomodation which is very basic just huts made of mud but they are quite cute and have there own little bathroom. you then get to go on an elephant and camel ride. The elphants and camels are kept at the reserve along with other animals but what i really liked about this trip is that the animals are so well looked after and you can tell that by seeing how happy and friendly they are. After the ride you have dinner and then get to watch a show all about the history of the elephant which is put on so well. After this you sit round a logfire and drink the night away while all the animals roam freely around you and the people that live there put on a show of live music. At around 11pm you go on a jugle walk which is about 10 minute worth of walking where they show you a surprise of the jungle but i wount ruin this for you encase you ever do this trip. When you get back it is a few more drinks before you go to bed. In the morning you have a choice you can either get up at 5 and go on a 2 hour walk to a waterfall and then back to camp or you can stay in bed until about 8 then get up for breakfast. After breakfast you are taken to visit a vilage where you get to meet to school children and also look around a Goan house. You then go back to camp where it is time to bath the elephants you go with them to a lake where are first they go in on there own to wash. You then get to help clean them and afterwards they get to clen you this involves sitting on the elephants back in the water and recieving what in known as a power shower. The elephant sucks water into its trunk and then throws it bck all over you. Its then back to camp for some lunch before the journey back to your resort. This really is a great trip and i would recomend to anyone going to Goa.

Thumbs up Jungle Book Trip

that sounds awesome, I'm meeting up with friends in Goa in Dec/Jan and that would be a perfect trip for them (also myself) to do. How much did you pay for the trip? I know it's been two years so I would imagine the price as gone up some what, hopefully you find the trip is offered by other outlets in Goa, can you remember how long it took to get to the place? I take Shanti is part of Goa? I did have a look in a goa guide book but couldn't find it, so it may have been a small place that the travel company uses! I know there's a kipling camp I want to go to, hvae you read travels on my elephant by mark shand, it's where he left his elephant , and they do jungle plans there, but it's a bit far for my friends.

I also did it couple of years ago with a group. There were some people who just came with cars and drivers so it should be possible. It was a great experience.

Interesting trip (in a Disney kind of way), but am I the only one who feels it is a kind of con?

Is it Khana or Corbett national park that is associated with 'The Jungle book'?
