Question Jeep rental in Calangute

Hallo from South Africa

I am heading to Goa in March and will be based at Calangute, but I need to rent a Jeep for about 2 days as I have some activities planned around Bogmalo Beach.

So I am desperately looking for info on renting a Jeep. The days to be exact is from 21 March (late afternoon) till 23 March (late afternoon)

Can anybody give me some info or a contact person.

And any Jeep would do, but I prefer an open top if possible...

Indeed. We are going to Scuba in Bogmalo and also looking at a underwater walk in Baina. But while we are off the beaten track, we thought we would explore a bit around and have a look at Colva and Palolem. We are based in Calangute (first trip so did not know it is such a commercial part of Goa) and attempting to get to Bogmalo etc. on a scooter is not going to work

Don't waste time on Colva. It is a filthy beach. Where are you staying in Calangute?

OK, and how about Palolem? Is that worth the drive from Bogmalo or Baina

We are going to be at Casa de Goa

@GoanCanuck so is Palolem beach worth visit? It looks beautiful in pictures.

And how are the roads between Calgunute and Palolem? Is it advisable to get a jeep as @LudsB is suggesting he is going to be doing? and if so then whats the general price to rent a jeep

Well den22 I hope it is, because we have already booked into a place in Palolem called "Green Park Resort" where we are going to be based for the last week or so.

Scuba diving almost every day at Bogmalo but this place was used by a friend before and it looks amazing. Very rustic, nothing in terms of luxury, but right on the beach...could be good fun

Palolem is a nice beach but it has become crowded these days. Coming from South Africa, don't expect too much as far as scuba diving in Goa is concerned. It is most certainly not a great place for underwater exploration.

Thanks GoanCanuck. I have seen the vis is not the best, but it is just one of those things we are willing to risk, especially with the chance of having a wreck dive. And coming back home after my stay and not being able to tell people I dived the Arabic would be wrong in so many ways...

Is there anything else you suggest as an absolute MUST while in Goa?

If you have the time maybe you could head down the coast to Gokarna. Om beach is what Goa was once upon a time.

Thanks. I will check out the distance and if we can fit it in the travel plans! I have created a new "Thread" about the must do and see activities in both Mumbai and Goa if you would like to comment on that. You seem to be very knowledgably on the area

What can I say praveen eguri? Seems a Jeep in Goa is harder to find than a needle in a hay stack. I figured we will just do a normal car, boring as it may be, it will get me to where I need to be. The Jeep was just an idea because of the awesome weather I am expecting

I hired a Maruti Gypsy @ Rs 1500/- per day, gas was mine.It is a sturdy ,open jeep and takes to the roads well.Drawbacks: gas guzzler (petrol)and no power steering. On the whole a nice ride for GOA
