Is there a Volvo bus from Delhi to Goa?

Well we decided to make a last minute plan to go from Delhi to Goa, Now how to reach there cheaply?

Trains are all booked! Planes to costly, So is there a bus service?

Or should we first go to Mumbai and then change bus to Goa?

I think the accomodation problem is next but I suppose IM and our spirit will help us through!

So any suggestions!

There are ways of getting onto a 'fully booked' train, or a combination of trains.

But more info is needed.

Class of travel prefered - Sleeper Class (not air con), 3-tier air con, 2-tier air con, or any?

Dates you want to travel?

One day earlier an option?

One day later an option?

Are you in India yet?

When will you arrive?

How many people?

Are you/they Foriegn tourists?

What colour are your toe nails?

We are mix of local and foreign. Class of tickets is AC 2 or 3 tier. In India and chilling our heels in Delhi. Changed the plans from rajasthan to goa and the point is how to reach there, without looting a bank.

We want reach by 30th Dec so we will need to start by 28th or 29th Dec.

We are two couples and may increase to 3 couples, late twenties.

I've had a quick look, and all I can find is Delhi to Mumbai in 3-tier air con that would be any use to you, even that is using a few tricks.

Go to the reservation office and try to book in 3A from Firozpur (code FZR) to Mumbai CST (code CSTM), making sure your boarding station is New Delhi (code NDLS), they have availability from Firozpur to Mumbai, but not Delhi to Mumbai.

It will cost slightly more, but not much.

Train 2138 will depart Firozpur on 28th (date you book train for) at 21:45, it will get to New Delhi at 05:00 (on 29th) and depart at 05:30, it will get to Mumbai at 07:35 on the 30th.

3A will cost Rs 1388 per person.

On the reservation form you will need to use the following.

Station from - FZR
Station to - CSTM
Bording at - NDLS
Reservation upto - CSTM

Understanding reservation forms.

I'm sure there will be plenty of buses from Mumbai to Goa.

At this time of the year, transportation cost would be the least of my worries. Everything in Goa will be at double price and accomodation difficult if not impossible to find.

Best way is to reach Mumbai first. Air fares to Mumbai are very cheap these days. International flights may take you to Mumbai from Delhi in odd 2000/-. Even low cost airlines will also take you in 2500/- or so from Delhi to Mumbai. The fare may be more for non-Indian residents.

From there you will get a lot of Volvo Buses and trains also. If you need to book tickets in Volvo from Mumbai, you may get it done by contacting TPH Transport (major player in Volvo running from Mumbai).

I think there is no problem getting booking in a Volvo/ normal bus and even train from Mumbai to Goa even during the peak season. Only the fare is on the higher side with private buses. We went the same way last year (28th December) and got Volvo ticket for 1200/- per head.

I checked it myself before posting the info, I could have got them all the way to Goa, I'd found availability, but too many changes.

There was availability on the Hubli - Londa - Goa overnight train, but no availability on the Delhi - Londa - Hubli sector.

Also Availability on the Kolhapur - Londa section.

Also Availability on the Mumbai (or Pune) - Kolhapur section.
Though the Pune-Kolhapur availability was on the Delhi-Kolhapur train, there was no availability for the Delhi - Kolhapur passengers.

Kolhapur would have been perfect as I'm sure there are plenty of buses to Goa from Kolhapur, or a taxi would have been good value if 4 were travelling together. (or 2 taxis for 6 people)

A train from Mumbai to Kolhapur would have just been wasting time, there are plenty of buses to Goa from Mumbai.

I tried many ways of finding availability to get from Delhi to Pune, but no joy.

So I decided to look into the Delhi - Mumbai route again, I had started with this route, but couldn't find any availability.

But there are many trains that run through Delhi to Mumbai from places not too far away, and the above train seemed perfect.

So, as you can see, a lot of time, knowledge and effort goes into a simple reply, it's a pity the original poster didn't like this option, it would have been so much more comfortable than a bus, maybe the timings didn't suit.
