>>>Is the Goan Party Scene dead ?????
sort of.. i was there for bout 2 month this year, from 28dec. till late feb the best party was on 3 jan. (russian new year) organised by this russian dj called XP. excellent. location/music was perfect, monkey valley. after that one only a couple have been.. just 2 hilltops, some temple parties.. even ninebar died early january cause of complications.. or whatever you wanna call it.. it was quite disappointing, from a party perspective.. |

*it was quite disappointing, from a party perspective..*
but quite nice from the perspective of those who like their nights undisturbed! The slackening party scene, which may or may not be repeated this year, is certainly welcomed by the Goan locals. They also prefer the yoga and alternative health community, which seems to be growing as fast as the party scene is dying. I should add that there is division about this in our house, as my husband Roger is a party nut and was undoubtedly at all the parties you mention. We agree to differ ! AnnieG

Raves in Goa ?
October? You're having a laugh.
No way. In October the rains are just coming to an end, everything is very shanti, the locals are friendly and the chance of a party is very, very remote. The first parties are at Christmas and New Year. After that, they are intermittent and just a day or so on Moon Days. The days when Goa used to have full-on raves for days at a time are long gone. Anti-social behaviour is not tolerated by the Goans any more - and those raves of old were very anti-social as far as the locals were concerned. There are a few 'private' parties around, but you have to be in the know to know about them, and they often get shut down by the police. Beach parties get shut down before they can start. At least, that's what it was like last season - its been getting increasing anti-rave as the seasons go by. I hear that the rave scene like it used to be in Goa is in Africa now, where the police are more relaxed. |
