Is it worth traveling to Palolem? Now, April 2008?

Myself and another traveler are wondering whether it is worth traveling up to Palolem, Goa due to the fact the party season has ended or is coming to an end. We are currently residing in Varkala, Kerala. It is our last month in India and have not seen Goa but if it is dead for the next few weeks, I think we will save the experience for another trip. We understand as well that the weather may get a bit more uncomfortable due to the monsoon season about to arrive, although in Varkala we don't think it is too bad. If anybody recommends it we would be interested in knowing why and whether there are indeed any big parties coming up. Any advice would be of interest too. Thanks.

The party is truly over in Palolem for now, and its not just the weather to blame. There has been a police crackdown on all night time activities. And some dancers have been spotted with headphones on, due to noise pollution bans in place.
Move to Karnataka or Kerala if you seek a beach.
