Do´s n don´ts are off topic. It´s always about consequences and since we are all adults here and India is a democracy, I won´t be the one to spoil the bright side of a holiday. It´s all a game and we are it´s players. So, everybody make your move and get happy with it. Fair enough.

Well it all depends on what's bright for you and dull for someone else hmmm. I know what you mean by consequences but it's a free country..and there a lot worse things people can do.

Your English is on par with a British National that’s why I was questioning. There stories of mad Indians, mean police and poorly bellies, I think there just trying to wind me up.

Why is your English so competent?

Just leaving this for general interest (and not because of the original question, but because of the way the discussion evolved): Arthur Road Prison Conditions

You'll be surprised with India..a lot of people have English agreeable with 'British standards'. And for things like cops being unruly and the general population being mad(haha)..that happens everywhere. It's just different...don't listen to those Indians! They are probably advising you to carry malaria pills as well. Not that you shouldn't if you feel you need to, but if you general precautions anywhere in the world, nothing bad is likely to happen to you.

Hmmm. Firstly, someone getting caught in Goa would not be lucky enough to be lodged in Arthur Road prison, you'll be at a worse place than that somewhere in Goa. Surely someone is not wary of committing a crime in India because the prison conditions are bleaker than other parts of the world? Also, foreigners getting caught in India attract a lot of international attention, it makes less sense for cops to arrest them as the detention process gets extended and has further consequences. All I'm saying is, if someone wants to smoke pot, they sure as hell should be allowed to and not to be made to feel like a criminal. These discussions are probably better suited for people who come to Asian countries hoping to catch young children for sex. Now they ought to be thinking of the state of Indian prisons before thinking of getting away with something like that. Being safe is one thing, being paranoid quite another.

That´s why I didn´t define the imagination of a bright sided holiday here. And you´re right, there are a lot of worse things people can do. By the way, ever heard of the stool pigeons mingle with the crowd at the beach parties? Well, and even when the parties become fewer and the whole scene is changing, I would be very cautious with my advices for a newbie in Goa anyway. No offence, just a thought. You get me, do you?

I know what you mean. But just makes a holiday very stressful if you're bogged down by all this don't you think. I remember when I was alone in Murud, had heard too many stories about drunk men being at the beaches at night and locals being adept eve teasers. Had the worst time ever as I was constantly thinking of what to wear. Cheers!

Heheh. There's a new system in place which means you can PM after your 11th post. So hang in there...

Exactly. All the more reason to be just a little careful in what you do, right?

The subject has been covered a lot here btw, some searching should help. Bottom line: No matter what we think of it, it's not legal, may therefore attract scamsters and govt. employees looking for bribes, and these aren't the 1960's (and word has it many Goans got a little fed up with all that stuff at some point anyway).

Lol ryan. Think you can ask me here. I can't send you a PM as well..it says you're not allowed to accept.

Okay, I humbly accept. I'm just a little rash while traveling, otherwise there's too much on my head. To each his own

Goddess Bhottisattva, may it be you are a little naive or is your posture more of a concept of living? Of course you can smoke pot in Goa and may never be molested by cops in hundred years, but also there´s the dark side of it´s fun commonly named as "wrong place at the wrong time", and if this scenary takes place it´s gonna be a lot different in handling from all we know here in Europe. And that´s a fact, so even if one can get away with a bribe there are others who never did. Don´t belittle things, would you?

OK lets leave the whole pot thing, when I said "a beer and a smoke" I meant ciggs and not reefers anyway.

If you want to smoke pot then fine but just be aware of the risks which now I am fully, cheers.

Ryan
