Important news for those visiting Goa

Most foreign tourists visiting Goa tend to leave their passport either in the hotel safe or in their room with the rest of their luggage. While going to a bar or beach shack or nightclub most tourists do not carry their passport with them to avoid losing it.

But according to the new regulations which are being introduced, a foreign national will have to carry valid identication papers on their person at all times. Failure to do so will result in you being detained at specially created detention centers and ultimately deported.

The government is also planning to invoke the NSA if necessary which is a draconian piece of legislation. Under the NSA a person who is detained has very very limited rights.

The article didn't say if the identification papers had to be a passport.

Or maybe a photocopy of the passport/visa would do? I don't really know

[Home Minister] Mr Naik said that every in-charge of police station in the state has been directed to keep a vigil on the activities of criminals and anti-social elements in their jurisdiction.
And what have they been doing up to now?

Flower arranging?

What a heap of politicians' woffle

Naik, in his first official meeting with the State’s top police officials – which included the DGP, DIG, IGP, SPs, DySPs and PIs – since he took charge of the Home Ministry was especially tough on foreigners staying in Goa without valid documents.
Politician New Boy Hot Air.

That happens all over the world!
