How to get from Goa to Nagercoil

Hi, I will be travelling with a friend from Goa to Nagercoil around third week May if I can just find out how to get there !! Like others on this forum I have tried to make sense of the train schedules but just cant get a fix on anything that will take me from Goa down south. Can anyone out there help me please ? I plan to stay for several months also so any tips of how to stay fresh in the hot weather and free of the bugs would be much appreciated

Thanks and much appreciated.. locating travel plans on the Indian Gov rail site seems to be as easy as winning the lottery blind and with only one arm so any help will be much appreciated.

You can take a train to Trivandrum (like Netravati Express) and then go to Nagercoil by bus. There are also trains to Nagercoil from Trivandrum. But I don't know whether there are direct trains from Goa to Nagercoil/Kanyakumari.

Don't loose your courage on the Indian Railway website... after getting used to the system it is a quite useful thing.

Check the train forum here on Indiamike, you'll get precious infos there

For starters there is the 6335 Nagercoil Exp Leaves Madgoan at 07:45 reaches nagercoil at 04:40.
This is a direct train but it is not there daily. Please check www.indianrail.gov.in or http://indian-railways.rediff.com/ for dates and timing.

Then the other options mentioned before. Take a train to trivandrum and from there it should be easy by road and even train(there are plenty of trains from madurai/kanyakumari which will take you from trivandrum to nagarcoil.

There is a rajdhani on wed and fridays.

The best site to go is on www.irctc.co.in you can book your tickets there directly
