So I'm planning a trip to Goa next week. What is the rain situation like? It seems like the monsoons started, does that mean continuous rain or intemittent thunder storms? Is it possible to enjoy the beach around now?

How much of Goa is shut down? Is it going to be too dead to have fun? Are the good eating places going to be shut? And bars and night clubs?

Monsoon hasn't started yet. If you go to busier resorts there are still plenty of bars and restaurants open. Rains are due any day now.

So I take it your in Goa right now? I think im going to risk it and go ahead with the trip. I would really really like it not to rain, and to have somewhat happening surroundings, but a part of me thinks Goa in the rain is going to be a real sight, so maybe i don't have so much to lose.

Oh and which beach did you go to (if you even went) and how many people were around?

We had rain last night and more this morning. The sky is black out to sea so it looks like it's about here.

I'm flying to mumbai next week, I wanted start with goa, hampi and kerala. Then fly from trivandrum to delhi. I'll be in india for 7 weeks, I'm travelling alone so I'd like to start in the south because that seems 'easier' than the north of india. But if everything's closed and it's raining all the time, it might not be such a good idea to go to the south at all. Isn't it?
Could anyone give me some good advice about where to go and how bad the monsoon is?
Thanks!

The monsoon should have hit Mumbai by now but it's holding off at the moment. It could come with a vengeance at any time. We had a storm in the night and it's overcast now. The sun's trying to break through.

Goa in August

After reading all topics about the Monsoon in Goa in August I'm heavily in doubt about going there. I'll be in India from August 1st to August 22nd. So I've only got 3 weeks. I intended to do a Rajastan tour and then end in Goa for a few days of partying. But maybe it is not worth it to fly that far now? Because it's definitely a bit 'out of the way'. What do you guys reckon? Is it really lots of rain and closed bars? Because in that case it might be a better idea to extend my stay in Delhi for example and do a bit of finishing partying over there? Thanks!
