How do I go about posting a parcel from Goa to UK?
A lot of the above is er misleading.
You can buy a box at the PO which will have instructions.
You can scrounge a box from a local shop but the it *will* have to be sewn in white cotton cloth and tied with string and sealing wax.
Either way if you are a FN you will need passport copies to hand over and paste on the packet, and a customs declaration ditto.
Calangute PO is about the only really civilised one around**, if you're in N Goa go there.
** at Christmas the guy there was even sticking on stamps for people with a pile of cards.

It sounds like the Calangute PO is indeed very civilised
. I never posted packages from Goa, but post offices in other parts of India that I used did not sell boxes. They did not ask for passport copies, and filled in the customs declaration themselves, based on what I said was in the parcel (this is where the problem with the medication came in).

Yes that is correct. At least in Goa you are asked to use a white cotton cloth and sealing wax has to be used.

Bit of a mystery then, as during several years living in Siolim, many parcels were sent to UK, no cotton sacks, no sealing wax, all arrived............
(however, some sent from the UK did not reach us)
But maybe thats just India?

A guess - you were sending 'letter packets' not 'parcels'.I think it's a weight and size thing
